What is the best shower gift you received you didnt register for?

I have a shower in 3 weeks and she has gotten almost EVERYTHING from her registry already and I dont know how to put together something nice with whats left, with is really nothing more then some overpriced utensils and some hand towels and some luggage I cant afford.

Any ideas of cute things you all have recv'd or given?

My budget is about $100 for the gift.

Does she like wine? You can make up a basket of wine bottles and tie labels around the top that say - first night in new home, first Christmas Eve, first V-day, first anniversary...

I LIKE the wine idea a lot..she is a big white Zin drinker! Where could or how could I make the labels? I thought about the guest book thin g but she registered for a set that comes with one and its been bought.

for my sisters shower I gave her a huge laundry basket filled with all sorts of cleaning stuff. That stuff adds up, and when your just starting out, its a huge help to have. You can fill it with swiffers, brooms, dustpans, mr. clean, lysol, ajax, sponges.

Also for her shower i found a poem on the internet that was really cute. It said stuff like'your future husband wont' always be MR CLEAN, but he will be your white DOVE. He will bring you JOY. ' We read the poem and for each cleaning product just held it up. It was really cute, everyone loved it.

For another shower, I made a towel cake. I bought a set of white towels, folded them into the shape of a cake and then decorated it with fake flowers. You can find the directions to do that online.

Did she register for a steamer (for clothes)? BB&B sells one for around $50 I think that she will probably find extremely useful and may even come in handy the day of the wedding.

If not, try to find out if she has her toasting flutes, unity candles, or Cake server set.

I have seen the poem about the cleaning products and it is very cute, and that stuff dose add up like a broom and a mop and cleaning products, and you could put all of it in a laundry basket and even get laundry soap and dryer sheets.

She has ALL her wedding stuff, I like the cleaning supply idea, I think maybe two baskets, one with the WINE idea and the cleaning supplies....Unless someone else can help...lol..

Shes very picky and I'm nervous about what to get. I know she wouldnt like the poem that you all mentioned, I've seen it at showers and I LIKE it, but I know she hates anything cute like that...lol

DM, I would have loved to recieve a cleaning products basket! It really would have come in handy when I moved in with Fh last august.

OR, you can give her the towels, and fill the basket w/ bath products ?

I have seen a couple of great things at showers

My friend got a bunch of candles and candle holders. The candles came in two's- with two of each color. There were two candlesticks. The gift was presented where each set of candle's was for a special event-- sort of presented in poem form-- but did not rhyme. These were some of the occasions that the candles would be lit..

Light the blue candles the first night you are home from your honeymoon

light the yellow candles on your first anniversary

light the red candles on your first valentine's day together as a married couple

light the gold candles on your first night in your first house together

light the xx candles when you find out you are preganant with your first child

You get the point-- the scenarios are endless.. And it would obviously be presented in a more pleasing format than just a list-- It was so great- This was a shower idea totally worth stealing!

Also- a large tote bag from LL Bean with her 'new' initials on it- all filled with stuff for the honeymoon. Another wonderful gift.

I like the idea of a picnic basket filled with picnic stuff. A bottle of champagne with glasses, a blanket, cloth napkins (pretty ones), candles, etc.

and some other cute things.

I got three unexpected gifts that I love, One was a beautiful wicker picnic basket filled with plates, glasses, utensils, cheese board, cheese knives, cheese, olives, napkins, a card game kit, corkscrew. It was so pretty, we took it on our honeymoon. Second was a gift certificate to Maximus for an aromatherapy body wrap, I have to use it soon. And third was a waterfors bowl that DH's aunt brought back from Ireland. It is so pretty!!

I also got some sorta weird non registry stuff, that I think I will like one day. We got a smoothie maker, which will come in handy one day when we have a house with a bar in our basement and we got this HUGE punch bowl set, guess I'll have to throw a party to use that one.

I got a set of 6 margarita glasses, the salt and a maragarita mix CD to go along with it from the pottery Barn. I can't imagine that it would be that expensive and I thought it was a fun gift. It wasn't something I registered for...but its definitely something I will use.
