J & R's is pretty good - and if you look on the wall at the one at stony brook you'll see one of my friends who ate the entire 72 oz steak

There are lots of them all along Northern Blvd...you can barely drive ten feet without seeing one

Majors steak house in East Meadow , amd I think there is one right next door to Crest Hollow CC. too, it is so yummy!

I really like Ruths Chris (the one in Times Square) and Burton & Doyles on Northern.

Peter LUgers in Brooklyn is great but I don't like the one on Northern so much.

ETA - Uncle Jacks in Bayside is a good steak but I am not wild about the service.

There is a place in Manhattan called Plataforma Churriscuria. It's a Brazilian BBQ where they come around to your table with all kinds of cuts of beef, lamb, etc, etc, on skewers and slice it off for you onto your plate...as much as you want, when you want...DH was addicted when we were in NY. Now I hear there's one in Huntington (?)

It's really good, but I need at least 2 days advance warning before I go so that I can fast!!!

There's one on Route 110 .. just north of Adventureland .. hubby and I have been there several times .. we enjoy it .. they have the little green & red block to signal the staff when you're ready for the BBQ .. and they have a wide variety of buffet goodies as well.

As for my favorite steakhouse .. depends on what we're in the mood for .. inexpensive steak dinner .. Boulder Creek .. expensive steak dinner .. Ruth's Chris.

Keep in mind .. we've never been to a steakhouse in the city .. and the one time we went to Peter Luger's (on the island) .. thought it was weird they only take cash .. and in my opinion .. didn't like the cramped seating arrangements .. but the food was good.

Rothman's (on Northern Blvd in East Norwich) is a place I've been interested to try, as well as Charlie Browns.
