Priest/Church Question

My FI and his family are kind of close with this priest that they know through the NYPD (FI is a cop and this priest is a department chaplain or something) Well, FI wants him to marry us, but his parish is in Brooklyn and we would rather have the ceremony on Long Island closer to wherever we decide to have the reception.

I was wondering, does anyone know if you are allowed to 'bring your own priest' to another church? I feel like it might be kind of insulting, like we're saying we want to use your space but not any of your priests?

It is allowed and it's been done but they have to give permission of course. I don't think they'd get offended. GL

yes we did. The priest who married us called the church we got married at and arranged everything

We're bringing in our own priest also. Our church said that he had to write a letter of intent and they would make all other arrangements via telephone.

We also had our own priest. I just told my parish priest that a family friend would perform the ceremony. There wasn't a problem. You just need to tell them in advance.

We are bringing in our own priest too. He used to be the Pastor at my church (where we are getting married) so he is coming back to marry us.
