Caribbean Honeymoon in September?

Anyone planning their honeymoon in the carribean in September? I probably will be doing so but everyone seems to think if its not in Aruba (b/c its out the hurricane area), then I am crazy, but the last two years we've had luck in the carribean in September--so Im curious what everyones thoughts are? Where are you going also?

I am going through the same dilemma. We are going at the end of august and wanted jamaica then st. lucia, but we are unsure too. I think we might do it though.

We just got back from Barbados -- 2 days late because of Ivan. Flights were cancelled and electricity was out for a day, we got pretty lucky.

I'd do it again, to be honest.

It's a risk, but many resorts will give you free days if there are any hurricanes. But, as nice as that is, it doesn't change the chance that you could have a very rainy honeymoon. FH and I went to the Jamaica last September and DR for Labor Day the year before. We didn't have any problems, but we weren't willing to risk it for the honeymoon. We'll be going to the Pacific Coast of Mexico, one week in Acapulco and one week in Nuevo Vallarta.

I still haven't picked my date, but we were thinking about Sept. and the honeymoon has been a major consideration. I don't think I'd risk the Caribbean in Hurricane season. Chances are you'd be fine, but I would totally stress over it.

I wouldn't want to risk it. I am getting married in October and I plan on avoiding the carribbean, just in case. You never know!

I think you should take this years experience with the hurricances as a big factor... the islands all got hit- Bahamas, Jamaca, ect... I wouldn't! Just my opion.... if you do decide to go though, def take out travelers insurance.... save you a bundle of money just in case of anything.

I would be a bit nervous to tell you the truth (aside from Aruba).

Consider Europe- I have been to Sicily and Greece both in September and the weather was amazing- as was both of those places.

I would highly recommend Greece. Only stopped in Rome to connect but I am sure you can't go wrong there.

I hear that Spain is great as well.

After this year, I'd be nervous. They just don't seem to be stopping. We did Aruba for that same reason.

I went to Turks and Caicos at the beginning of september last year and the weather was perfect! Up until this year they had not had a hurricane in almost forty years!!

I'm going in late aug to St. Lucia. Sandals offers hurricane insurance. Also my FH and I are getting extra insurance. It only costs about $160 more. It is worth the extra $ to know that if there is any type of problem at all we are insured.

Your best bet is to go to Sandals because they have a Hurrican Guarentee.... If a hurrican stikes while you are at the resort, you will get your entire ( land portion) of your trip back in vacations days....

your there for 7 days, hurrican hits on your 1st or 7th day and you get an additional 7 days of vacation.... it really is a good deal...

St. Lucia is usually not effected.... but you can never predict what mother nature will do

Three words: Charley, Frances and Ivan.

I wouldn't chance it. It could be great next Sept or it could be horrible.

Aruba is lovely though.
