need opinions for one year trip St. lucia--its booked now ideas while we are there
what do you think of Sandals Halycon? I originally wanted Sandals Grande but it looks booked. For those who sent for their honeymoon and got to see these resorts give me your opinion on Sandals haylceon, grande or the other one, rex i believe its called. TIA

Re: need opinions for one year trip St. lucia
We went to the Grande for our honeymoon and it was fantastic! We're actually going back in November.
We went to Halycon one night for dinner. Dinner was good but the resort was very small and very quiet compared to the Grande. Not much activity going on at night.
If you are looking for a small, intimate, Quiet! resort - go to Halycon
If you are looking for a lot of excitement, activity, sports, younger couples - go to the Regency
If you are looking for something in between the two - go to the Grande

Re: need opinions for one year trip St. lucia
We stayed at the Halcyon for our honeymoon and I would totally go back there....it was so romantic and private. Felt like we were on our own private island. We went to the other two resorts while we were there, and preferred the Halcyon's privacy....we felt the others were a bit crowded

I agree completely!! We stayed at the Grande too, so we both might be biased...hee
They Halcyon seemed a bit "older", much quieter....the beach looked really nice though, and they had this really awesome piano bar near the front desk, with a jukebox and a guy playing jazzy music......was really cool.
I didn't get to see what the rooms looked like, but I'm sure they are nice, and you can always travel to the other 2 resorts as much as you want to make use of their ammenities (like the Spa at the Grande!!!).
The Regency was hopping, always seemed like there was somthing to do at night, live music and that sort of thing, a younger crowd and alot of fun. My only negative about it was that it was very hilly, and very big, really spread out, they had vans driving around the resort to pick you up though, so you didnt have to mountainclimb every time you wanted to go somwhere, just seemed a bit much for me and I'm glad we didn't stay there, I'm not much of a hiker!!
If you can manage to get a room at the Grande, I highly recommend it....it used to be a Hyatt, so its more like a hotel than the other 2 resorts, and pretty much every room is exactly the same, the only thing your paying extra for is Concierge service, 24 hour room service and your view. We got the lowest level room that still had Concierge/24-room service and we still had a great view of the ocean....it was a great room, and it was also quieter in that area of the resort.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either 3, this is just one persons opinion, and I'm sure you will get a bunch more from people who wil totally disagree with me....do your research and go with the one that you think will be the better fit for you. And remember that you can travel to the other 3 for free.....goodluck and have sooo much fun!!! I'm jeolous!!! I want to go back too!!!

Re: need opinions for one year trip St. lucia
We went to the Halcyon and loved it- I was practically in tears when we were leaving. The resort is beautiful and the staff all pleasant and friendly. However the water sports were never available because the water was too rough. We heard the water is calmer at the grande and therefore you can do more water sports if that's something you're interested in. St Lucia is beautiful and I think you'll have a great time no matter which sandals you choose!

Re: need opinions for one year trip St. lucia
We went to the Grande also for our HM. I loved it so much that we are trying to return for our 2 year anniversary in April. I went to the regency one night for dinner and it seemed too big for me. I never went to the Halcyon, but two of my friends did and LOVED IT!

Re: need opinions for one year trip St. lucia
One lady I know who did recommend the Halycon when we were planning our honeymoon did say that because it is the smallest of the three on the island the staff really gets to know you and your likes and dislikes and they really cater to you there.
Since the Grande was bigger the staff to guest ratio was a bit larger and they don't get to know you as well.
I still loved the Grande though! 51 days and counting!!!
