Do you give ur parents back some of the money?

Since my dad is footing a big chunk of the wedding, my FH suggested we give him back some when we recieve money from the guests.

Do people normally do that, or it all depends on the parents circumstances?

I think it depends on the situation. If your dad is struggling to help you out, than maybe you'll want to give him some money from your gifts. If he is fine paying for the wedding, than I wold assume he's not expecting anything in return. In the end, it's really up to you and your FH.

Unless you made some kind of arrangement with your parents, I would just consider it a gift.

I agree. Unless your parents are really struggling to help you out, I would not.
If I tried to do that I think my dad would be insulted and hurt.
I understand the gesture, but I think they may be insulted

my parents are paying for the wedding so that we can use the money from gifts towards a down payment on a house....so i know they are not looking for anything in return

nope thats my parents gift to me and fh....

but fh and i are giving them a thank you gift and will send them on vaca for a few days to las vegas...my mom loves it there...

I'm in the same boat. I think parents, unless otherwise agreed upon, would not expect you to return any of the money. I know my folks would probably be mad at me for asking.

i understand that you might want to give your parents some money back, i want to do that also. My parents are being so great about this whole wedding that i want to give thme some money in return. i feel bad that they are spending so much money, i am trying to keep the cost down but even if i offerend the money to my parents i doubt they would take it.
