POLL: Are you staying at a hotel the night of your wedding or are you going home?
I am a little torn here. Our reception ends at 1:30AM. By the time we leave, I am thinking it will be 2:30AM. Our apt. is 5 min. from our hall. We don't live together, so I am thinking it will be really exciting to go to our home for the first time together right after the reception. The flip side is.. I am thinking it really is not going to be romantic walking into my apt. with my wedding gown on.. I am driving myself crazy- The other thing is we would like to stay in a nice hotel in the city- but that will take us atleast 30 to 45 minutes to get to it. Will it even be worth it?
TIA!!Rosanne

what time are you leaving the next morning? It will be worth it if you can relax in the hotel and get breakfast in bed....

We just figured a night at a hotel would make the night last longer and add a special touch to the end.

I think I agree with you that it will be exciting to go to YOUR home for the first time together as husband & wife.

Re: POLL: Are you staying at a hotel the night of your wedding or are you going home?
I thought I would like to stay in a nice hotel for our wedding night, since out HM will not be for several months. But i was also thinking we will be too tired to enjoy it- all that running around, dancing and greeting people, and getting up at the crack of dawn to get ready will be exhausting. So i just don't know! LOL, sorry I want able to help.

I feel like this too- I am SURE we will be exhausted.. We are having an even longer day because we are getting married in my church (Catholic) first and then FH (Greek Orthodox. I would hate to get a really nice hotel room and not be able to enjoy it.

Most likely going home but if we decide to board the dog early (before the wedding day), then maybe stay in a hotel.

We are doing something similar. Our reception is over at 5:30 or so. We staying at the Harrison House for the wedding night so that our friends can meet us at the Pub and the party can continue!
However - to address the original question - I think that going to your Apt for the first time as husband and wife is VERY romantic and very special. He can carry you over the threshold and everything. Unless you are not leaving for your HM in the morning there's no point in spending $$$ just for a bed to sleep in. You'll be dog-tired after such a long day!
Sleep in your own bed! Get a friend to dress the room up with rose petals and stuff before you get there!

Re: POLL: Are you staying at a hotel the night of your wedding or are you going home?
FH and I are staying at Oheka Castle - We dont live together and wont till we are married - but we wanted to do something special - i wanted to feel like a princess and FH surprised me with booking a room at OhekaIt kinda sucks because we have to be at the airport at three in the afternoon the next day - but we are only going to have ONE wedding night in our life - when we come back to from our honeymoon - our first night at OUR place will still be a special moment of its own

I say don't bother with the city, stay at someplace near the reception site. FH booked us for TWO nights until we leave for the HM because, as he puts it, he wants to 'continue the fairy tale'

Re: POLL: Are you staying at a hotel the night of your wedding or are you going home?
I was torn too and my reception ends at 5:30 pm. If I was in your shoes I probably would go home (have a friend decorate your bedroom) and then upgrade to a really nice room one night on your honeymoon. We were torn too. We looked at a few smaller hotels or BB on the island (Nassau/Suffolk border) and everything was super expensive and not so nice.
Because we are having a reception at a Scotto brothers hall we checked out the Inn at Fox Hollow. I thought it was going to be booked or too expensive. Seriously, I walked into the suite and it was beautiful (the best one we looked at) and we got the discount. I honestly thought the room would be twice the price. It came out a little bit more than an average hotel room. Oh and they throw in breakfast, rose petals and champagne for an additional fee.
We don't want to sound stuck up but we are not telling our guests and don't want to stay in the same hotel. We are a bit older and not into continuing the party into the wee hours.
FM me if you want more details

I agree..stay someplace close by..you will be so tired. There are nice hotels on LI...even if you stay someplace on LI it will still feel like you are away! We are staying at a hotel 5 minutes from the hall...we also went back and forth deciding if we should stay in a hotel or just go back to our apartment. We finally decided to stay in a hotel and my FMIL booked us a room for our wedding night...

FH & I will be staying at the same hotel as our guests....My FH has a lot of family from out of town, so the next morning my in-laws are having a big brunch at the hotel for us all to get together again...

There really aren't any nice hotels in Queens- Or atleast not that I know of. If I have to make a trip out to LI, then I would rather go into the city.

Re: POLL: Are you staying at a hotel the night of your wedding or are you going home?
I think going to your new home would be special! You know...getting carried over the threshold. We staying at a hotel only because we live in Chicago. My parents suggested we stay in my old bedroom.....which is next to theirs...
I am kind of bumbed that by the time we even get to the hotel it will be about 1:30AM and I do think that's kind of a waste.

Re: POLL: Are you staying at a hotel the night of your wedding or are you going home?
Definately a hotel. We want to stay somewhere near the airport, because we leave early the following morning for the honeymoon. If we went back home, we'd have to get up even earlier to drive there in time.Welcome New Vendors
