NYC school teachers that have taken maternity leave....question for you

Is it true that because you took a 3 month or longer leave during the school year (but still return that year) you lose part of your summer pay. This doesn't make any sense to me.

Danielle I don't know about the city, but I know that I would in my district because technically we are 10 month employees and the end of year check (summer check) we get is based on the days worked and amount deducted? I don't know if the same is true in the city but thought that might help

I took my 8 weeks (c section), used days in the bank and borrowed days as well. You may borrow up to 20 days. I took about a week without pay.......I still got summer pay though. Tommy was born
4-11-03 I went back the first week in June. A friend had her baby in April and stayed out till September but got summer pay.

I personally do not have experience with this, but a girl in my school came back after maternity leave the last day in June so she could get her summer checks.
