I just booked the Vanderbilt and we are day twins. I am during the day and you are at night. I woud love to exchange ideas and thoughts. Have you already attended a tasting or are you going to the one on the 23rd?

I would love to know about setting the place up to maximize dance spance. Maryann told me about an idea that I can not describe or picture. She said she would show me at the tasting.

also, do you think they will allow sparklers when we leave.

nope something about moving the dj booth so you can use the end??? I will have to wait until the tasting so Maryann can show me exactly what she means.

Vanderbilt is my first choice and we are going Friday to check it out and see what they can do for me - which I'm hoping they will work with me.

I don't have a date yet, but we want a lunch wedding either the 3rd weekend in May or sometime in June '05!!!

I'm a regular at the college and volunteer there so we'll see what they do for me

I am curious as well about maximizing dance space. I thought of maybe putting DJ/Band in one of the corners up front by the fireplace and using that as the dance floor!

I think they will allow sparklers, especially if it is outdoors.

What colors are your wedding? Are you coordinating with the curtains?

I'm not coordinating with the curtains...thought about it though. My dresses will be Periwinkle and all of my centerpieces are white...8 calas in a medium square vase on every other table. a dozen white roses in low centerpieces on the others.

i would love to have the dance floor along one side of the room, but then it won't be symmetrical. ANyone have pics of different dancefloor setups in the ballroom?

My DJ suggested setting up the DJ in the middle of the french doors and the tables on opposite end and to form a L-shape but I don't think I would like that.....not sure yet what I'm going to do.

My colors are antique rose/mauve color and gold.

Did anyone hire a pianist for cocktail hour? Ineed to start looking into this.......any suggesstions?

Thanks for the welcome. I am thrilled and stressed! Planning a wedding in 5 months, very dumb! I have hired a pianist for cocktail but he is a friend of mine and he is doing it as a wedding gift to me. I have other friends who are musicians who I will ask if they do it.

My colors are pink and ivory with and Irish theme. So glad others are not matching the curtains.

Sounds great MTA!! You can do it in 5 months - some stress involved but definately doable. I know of a bride who got married last week and did everything in two months!!!! You found the right place for assistance - all of these ladies are knowledgable in one thing or another! Let me know if I can be of any help...........again congrats & good luck!!
