MY first BRIDEZILLA ATTACK!!!!!!!

I AM upset though..

We have been planning our MARCH 12 2005 wedding since we got engaged in June of 03. two friend of ours just got engaged in July 04. AND they have chose MARCH 8, and it's a 4 DAY CRUISE. We have a lot of mutual friends, and I'm nervous now, that they aren't going to make it to ours. well, I know they aren't..

They told FI that they took our date into concideration, but had no other choice, they HAVE to do it during spring break, what about christmas break.. It's so annoying

and our guests can't make it to both, one is a bahamas cruise, and ours is in New York, and these friends are from Georgia


AND NOW IT MAKES ME THINK, They didn't want me and FI there obvisoulsy because they knew we wouldn't be able to make it...

and they said, 'we're still inviting you, hopefully we can all work it out'

well i'd be pretty upset especially if they knew your date and that's pretty crappy of other people to do theirs and not yours also but i wouldn't have the money to spend on a 4day cruise as a guest of someone's wedding so maybe people won't go to theirs..who knows maybe people won't go because they want to go to yours

Totally reasonable!!!!! I would freak out also! But you should remember that all your friends have known about your wedding date for a long time. So usually people go with what they knew about first to be fair. That is my opinion. But I would be just as upset as you are!!! I would die if one of my friends picked a day close to my wedding date!

It's one thing to pick a date that is close. I always complained about holiday weekend weddings but when I went to book this year the only date available at my place was July 4th. Mind you, I'm not having a whole weekend/destination wedding. It's just Monday (during the day), not even brunch on Tues.

I think what is most rude is that they are planning a destination wedding that makes it absolutely impossible for your guests to attend.

I did have two friends that got married one week apart (and many of us were mutual guest). That I can understand but your situation it sounds like they are being rude.

Do they realize many people may not be able to afford to go on their 4 day shin-dig? They all just might come to yours.

It's just a bummer, when I talked about how much fun we'll all have blah blah blah.. I feel bad for our friends, having to choose.. But anyway, we'll have a blast anyhooo!!!!!!!1

I wouldnt sweat it - I think your wedding gives your friends the option to bail on their expensive cruise - thats what I would do!

send std's& send your invites early , if posible.
You may get more of the freinds, b/c not all people have the time & $ for a cruise.

I would be totally pissed if I were you.....but I am thinking that a lot of your friends might not have the time and money to go on a cruise for 4 days and go to yours instead!

This is a great way to put into perspective. I think many guests would probably think this.
Just think that whoever wants to share your day with you, will be there because they care about you and FH....Don't mind the other stuff. Good Luck !!!!

wow, that's a pretty insensitive thing to do. i think you were totally justified in having the bridezilla!!!!

at this point there is nothing you can do about the mutual guest situation... the guests will make a choice of which wedding to attend, and you will be FINE no matter what they do!!

Actually, a somewhat similar thing just happened to me yesterday. a friend of mine (not close, but we have several mutual friends) who got engaged months after me told me that she is getting married the same weekend. in california! so our mutual guests will have to choose one way or another. luckily i don't care too much about these guests coming or not (but you didn't hear me say that ). but i still had a twinge of annoyance at the situation. so i feel your pain!

Wow- I didn't know you could say MF on the site and not get pulled........If I were given the choice, I would totally choose your wedding. If it was not a family member (like a sibling), I doubt I would spend the $ to go to a friend's destination wedding. Don't worry about it, you will end up looking like the bigger person in the end if you don't make a big deal out of it.

It won't be a hard choice since they are having a cruise and not even a destination wedding. Lots of people do not like being trapped on boats (or can't ride on boats for medical reasons). Then there is the expense of the cruise too.

They will likely get more NO's than you from the mutual friends.

A friend and I have close dates too (so far since I have not even booked a hall). She is 9/17/05 and we are planning for 10/9/05. Hopefully they will be back from their honeymoon in time for my wedding.

I'm not too worried about the mutual friends though since I think they will come to both....even though some are in CA & TX.

ETA: It is a bit rude since this friend knows you and your FI won't be able to attend the wedding.

Sorry... that is not a BRIDEZILLA ATTACK... its a totally normal reaction. Usually people keep their original engagments and really... who can afford to go on a 4 day cruise?
