Question about table names
For those who did table names, were guests confused in finding their tables? Did you use a seating chart? I really like the idea of table names, but I'm afraid people will get confused without a chart.

Re: Question about table names
I haven't had my wedding yet, but maybe a chart is a good idea. Though I am only having about 65-70 people, so I think that they will be able to figure it out.

Re: Question about table names
Having a chart would be a wonderful idea......definitely using that one. We just went to a wedding for our best friends and it took us like 10 mintues to walk from table to table to figure out where we were sitting....b/c most of their other friends are from out of town and we don't know most of them. So, having a chart is a WONDERFUL idea for a larger wedding. We're having well over 200 people, so I'm definitely borrowing this one.

Re: Question about table names
i think if you are having a smaller wedding, there is no need for a chart, people will find the table within a few minutes. I would say over 100 you will need to give them some guidance!i went to a wedding of about 150 once where the table names were cute phrases, and it took some of the old people like 20 minutes to figure out what in the world was going on - there was alot of confusion!

Re: Question about table names
I don't know if all halls do this, but we had to give our hall our guestlist with table assignments in alphabetical order so the staff can help people find their seats. Also, when I did my table names, I did them in alphabetical order so that it would be easier for people to find their table.

That's a good idea to put the table names alphabetically. We are having about 150, and my hall also wants a list of people and what table they are sitting at so they can help them also.

Re: Question about table names
What I did with table names was pretty explicit:I had an autumn theme, so all of the tables were named after Maple and Oak trees and had an assigned color.
(Sugar Maple, Northern Red Oak, etc...)
I bought a bunch of really nice autumnal colored papers from Michael's craft store and a maple leaf and oak leaf die cut puncher, and we glued little cut-outs of the appropriate leaves to each placecard. So if you were at
Bur Oak, you had a brown oak leaf on your placecard and the name Bur oak. Then, the Bur Oak table had a table-card sign that had a BIG Brown Oak leaf on it, and sais Bur Oak underneath.
THis was a bit of work, but nobody was confused, and I had several people complement the detailed design! They all appreciated the effort!

Re: Question about table names
i only put place cards at my reception table. makes it less confusing. my friend printed the person's name of a sticker and placed it on tic tacs located at the reception table. the guests ran for the tic tacs looking for their names. there was def no confusion there. once the guests have made their way to their table let them figure out where they should sit. the attendants at my reception table also had a seating list for those who could not find their card. that helped to trouble shoot.Welcome New Vendors
