Thinking about going to school for Real Estate
Does anyone have any idea what schools offer a Real Estate Program?
I am interested in going to school for Real estate, and doing it on the side until I get settled into it.
Has anyone here gone to school for Real Estate? Where did you go or recommend? Is it hard to get into? Is there anything I need to know before I take the first step?
I saw in sundays newsday places that offer training while they hire you to work for them. Do you think this is worth it or should I go to the real estate school first? Thanks, Scott

Re: Thinking about going to school for Real Estate
I know there is a license you need--my FH was looking into it--he was going to start working at an agency part time, then they pay for the classes to prepare for the licensing exam. I think it is easier to do when you are affiliated with an agency already, and then you also have a guarantee job when you get the license. Good luck!

Re: Thinking about going to school for Real Estate
This was many many years ago - but I did have a Real Estate License - I took a course - somewhere in Hauppauge - but I can't remember the details - I think it was like a week or two long.
eta: I did work for a Real Estate office at the time though - I was a secretary and they sent me to the class to get my license.

Re: Thinking about going to school for Real Estate
Its a tough job to do on the side on the get go.You can go to the school first if you want and then decided on what company to work for , as your going through school you may want to talk to other people and see who they are working for and what the company offers. What training programs or what type of help to get you started after you graduate.

Re: Thinking about going to school for Real Estate
Thanks. I don't know what to do. I need a second job because my first job just isnt cutting the mustard and I thought that this would be a great idea.
My friends wife did it. She actually used to work for my company that I work for and she was doing it on the side. They started laying people off and she actually asked to be put on the list of people getting laid off...She was doing so well at the real estate office.
