Adjustment to daycare question -
My daughter just started daycare at 21 monthsshe went two days last week - and she was fine - she goes two days a week - so they told me that it will a little hard for her b/c two days is harder for them. They were suprised how well she did last week. Well, this week is a different story -
She cried yesterday for 15 minutes - and was clinging to me - it was horrible
They told me to leave and they would call me - they said she stopeed crying after 10/15 minutes and then was fine the rest of the day.
This morning was the same thing -
Any suggestions - how can I make this a better situation for us both?
I fell so bad leaving her there - has anyone else experienced this?

I don't have any advice to offer, just
's that things get easier for her. It must break your heart to see her so upset. Maybe try getting her excited about going beforehand? Like 'Wow, you are going to have SO MUCH fun playing w/the toys and your new friends, etc.?'.

Maybe you could try bringing one of her favorite stuffed animals, dolls or toys with you. That way she'll have something from home!
I work in Daycare currently and have seen this to be a big help in easing the transition!!

Re: Adjustment to daycare question -
I am a day care director and this is totally normal behavior especially for her age. I find this age to be the toughest to start day care at. She most likely cried the 2nd week because she realized that this would be an everyday occurance. I highly recommend to all my new parents that they should bring the child in beforehand and spend some time in the classroom. Can you go in on a day she isn't scheduled at just stay with her for an hour or so. Try going in the hallway for brief periods of time and then go back in so she knows 'Mommy always comes back' She will get the hang of it and before you know it will probably give you a hard time going home. It usually takes 2 weeks but because she is part time I would give it a month before she is totally settled.
