Does anyone else feel stupid when in the Grocery Store?

I do not really cook nor do we really go to the grocery store. Well, I was bored today and we needed some things so I went. I just kept wondering back and forth down the same aisles 100 times. I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going. And the choices that they give me are wayyy tooo many. I need to go more often so I don't look like such an idiot. Does anyone else feel this way? I hate going because I don't know what I am doing?

I felt that at first...but when you go with list of what you need or get ideas from recipes you'll use, it helps.

I don't feel that way, cause all I buy is cereal and granola bars and I know where they are!!

I DO!! I go every single week and I still feel like an arse. I'm okay until I hit the meat department and then I have an anxiety attack because I never know what to get. I usually get so frustrated I leave with nothing and then DH gets mad at me because I have nothing for meals. Glad I'm not the only freak!

I kind of feel silly when people see what I have in my cart. Mostly already made stuff. I also have no idea how to cook and I don't have a stove yet to learn how to.

the moer you go, the easier it gets.
the first time i went i was all freaked out.....now i love it!

although, today we went to a different supermarket and i was completely out of my element....

I love to cook, do it all the time, go grocery shopping at least once a week and I STILL feel stupid in there. I never remember everything, even with a list, have no organization and have to return to aisles several times. I feel your pain!!!

I absolutely hate food shopping for that reason, I never know what to get.
So, my DH loves to go because, he's the big eater in the family so I let him do all the food shopping!

I absolutely LOVE going food shopping - but I also love food and I love baking/cooking too :) I get really excite when I know we're making a trip to BJ's - I'm liek a kid in a huge candy store!

Defnitly try to make a list before you get to the store though. It does make shopping easier, and it's a huge time saver. And, with practice comes experience points, so you''ll be a pro in no time :) You shouldn't feel stupid though - have you SEEN some of these people in grocery stores sometimes?!?! DH and I always manage to get in the one line with the crazy cat lady who always argues with the cashier and manager about her cat food coupons..... Feel better yet?

TOTALLY !!! the same way. When I go to BJs I go with a list and a calculator I feel stupid like that but at least this way I dont over spend and I know I am getting what I want. I try to do that in the supermarket but there are more goodies there and I say to myself 'the kids would like that' (meanwhile I eat whatever it is). Okay so Im mean but I love the muchies I sometimes hide them on the kids and they get mad when they see mommy eating it.

I sometimes hide them on the kids and they get mad when they see mommy eating it.

OMG - that is SOOOO something I see myself doing once we have kids! I already do it now with DH - when we're eating dessert or snacks, I'll make sure I get the ice cream with the most chocolate in it, or the popcorn pieces with the most butter and salt!

I love food shopping, but FH rushes me and then I forget stuff and get frustrated! We went to the new Stop and Shop in Ronkonkoma yesterday and it is AMAZING--brand new and HUGE!!!!
