Moving in together for the first time?? Anyone else have problems?

FH just got his own apartment a month or so ago. I don't live here, but I send the weekends here and I've been helping him set uit up and we've been decorating ti togther and buying everything togther. We share the chores, the cooking, the cleaning, whatever. It's pretty minimal since it's just the two of us, but settling in has taken forever, but that's another story.

It's just we're hvaing such a ahrd time adjusting. 95% of the time it's fine, but then sometimes we get into these power struggles...like I organize something, and in the rocess I'll move something, and he'll gt mad because it's HIS stuff and HIS closet and HIS apartment, so I get mad b/c If it's HIS apartment why am I doing laundry and scrubbing the bathroom? I don't think it's really a problem, I think it's just adjusting to sharing, etc. has anyone else had these problems?

FH and I have been living togeather for almost 3 years and the first summer was definately the hardest! It took a lot of adjusting but after a few months it got much easier. Good luck!

Re: Moving in together for the first time?? Anyone else have problems?

being that your not there full time it will probably be harder on you but once youre there, you'll have control i'm sure

i'm going through the same thing..fh and his kids are living in the coop that we just bought and i only stay there on the weekends when the kids are with their mom so i go through the same 'i want it there' argument but i'm sure it will get easier as time goes on.

I'm doing the same thing. I am living in the apartment during the weekends but FH looks at it as our apartment so he's not so much of a control freak. There are things I have to get used to but it will take time. I know once I live there permantly it will hopefully be better.

Re: Moving in together for the first time?? Anyone else have problems?

FH and i got an apartment together 5 months ago...i was nervous about how it would go (he is actually more anal retentive and neat while i can be messier)...but it took a little time to adjust, and from there its better and better...there will always be little quirks and things that each person does differently, for me it helped to just talk it out and go from there. It has been easier and easier though, and you learn that the little things aren't too big :) Good luck, you'll be fine!! :)

Re: Moving in together for the first time?? Anyone else have problems?

Dh and I just moved into our first house. While we have lived together previously, it was never in 'our own space.' We running into the whole 'why on earth would you put that there?' bit. Fun isn't it?

I hope it passes soon, or else I'm going to go bald from tearing my hair out!!

Re: Moving in together for the first time?? Anyone else have problems?

Thanks! It's so good to hear that other people are going through this, so it's normal. I just get so upset sometimes b/c I feel like he doesn't apprecaite all the help I'm giving him. I guess it'll just take some time to adjust!

He's already annoyed at me b/c I levae toothpaste in the sink! LOL

Re: Moving in together for the first time?? Anyone else have problems?

Its SO normal!! It takes a while to adjust. Another thing I had to adjust to was realizing that we did not have to watch every TV show together, we could live together and do stuff on our own.
