Tips for Bridal Gown Shopping...

Hey girls,
I just thought of some tips that I wanted to share with you....Please feel free to add some of your own advice as well! I hope this helps! Happy shopping! I hope you find the gown of your dreams!

1. When you try on the gown, think about how it makes you feel...(I knew my gown was the one because it had everything I ever imagined...and more). In my eyes, it was PERFECT for me!

2.Do NOT let the consultant rush you into purchasing the gown right away! (This is a big decision and you need to think about it.)

2. Do go to trunk shows of the designers you love...I got to see the whole Reem Acra and Kenneth Pool selection! It was great! You also get about 10% off at these trunk shows.

3. Do bring pictures from magazines to show the consultant...This way they have an idea of what you like. Be very specific to the consultant...tell her what material, sleeves, designs you like.

4. Do not judge a place by other people's opinions. You need to see it for yourself...I have seen some negative reviews on Bridal Reflections and Bridal Couture of Manhasset, but I had a great experience at both...

5. DO NOT bring too many people shopping with you.....it can get very chaotic IMO.

6. DO SHOP AROUND! I went to many places and sometimes saw the same gown cheaper the second time!

7. Go to trunk shows for tiaras/headpieces.
I rushed into picking a tiara and then realized that I just didn't love it and cancelled it...I went to a trunk show and saw dozens! It was so much fun!

I know I can think of more but I am sooo tired! Goodnight!

Re: Tips for Bridal Gown Shopping...

I have another one:

DO NOT try on gowns that are out of your budget! That will save you from falling in love with one that'll break the bank!

Re: Tips for Bridal Gown Shopping...

Denise,
That's a great one!!! I have another one:

1. Choose a gown that you feel comfortable in...some of the materials were too heavy...I couldn't even walk right in it and I looked silly.

One more here, don't worry about the size...buy what fits, not the number/size you refuse to change and must get.

Totally agree. I looked at the salesgirl like she was nuts when she brought out the dress I wound up choosing. Once I put it on, it made me 'feel' like a princess. Right then I knew.
