Mother of the Bride Dresses

Hi Gals,

Well, everything from my end is going well, however, my mom can't seem to find ANYTHING to wear that appeals to her. Have any of you helped your mom choose what she should wear, and if you wouldn't mind, can you please give me some ideas where you looked? Thanks!

Re: Mother of the Bride Dresses

Has she looked at bridesmaid dresses? I know my mom is probably going to get a more modest bridemaid dress cuz she thinks most MOB dresses are too old for her (I believe her response was 'Ew, that's something grandma would wear')

One of those might work for your mom Best of luck to her!

Ivory & Co. in Staten Island has a great selection of really classy, really formal MOB dresses

Re: Mother of the Bride Dresses

Well, Robinella, I guess I should have been a little more careful in my initial post, because she's only LOOKED and not found anything. She hasn't TRIED ON a thing yet! GRRRR Good Luck to you too!

Any other suggestions?

Re: Mother of the Bride Dresses

I just went this weekend with MOB and MOG.. I recommend Alta Moda in Bellmore... They have dresses that you can try on for shape, etc, and then they totally customize for you..

My mom found a dress she liked- and they are remaking it, and using this beautiful Vera Wang beaded lace and we picked a color that went with the rest of the wedding..

We also went to PM Boutique and Iman.. all had large selections.

Re: Mother of the Bride Dresses

My mom just picked her dress up this weekend, and its stunning I love it!!!! My mom although is wearing a much younger looking dress, shes young and has a sick body, and will show it off at any point she can...in a classy and tasteful way of course...there are tons of places in the city that carry great dresses, she should def try the city....

This is my mom's dress but she got it in a different color,it looks cheesy in the pic, but its not, it has beading, and its gorgeous on

Re: Mother of the Bride Dresses

My mom got her dress at Charmet in Bayside. It's by Jovani. We also went to Clifford Michael which was awesome, but super $$$ (they wanted $2895!!!) and Paula Varslona in NYC.

Re: Mother of the Bride Dresses

My mom isn't really into the mother of the bride gowns she finds in the bridal shops. She found a great dress in Lord & Taylor and fell in love with it (so did I). Also try Nordstrom's and Bloomingdales....because you never know.

Good Luck!

Will she consider BM dresses? My mom tried one on (we didn't tell her it was a BM dress until after) and she LOVED it. I'm pretty sure that in the end it's what she comes back to. There are a number of BM dresses out there that are at least as appropriate for MOB dresses, if not moreso.

Re: Mother of the Bride Dresses

My mom thinks that the MOB dresses are too old looking too. I took her to commack wedding center (against everybodys opinions) only because you dont need an appointmnet and they dont cut labels. I wrote down some style numbers when nobody was looking and when we go to burtons next week iam goign to see if they have any.
