Disposable wedding camera test. Results inside.-From Ally722(TheKnot)

I was just reading TheKnot and I found this...WIth all the questions and such about disposible cameras I thought you all would like to see this:

ok. i really really want to have disposable cameras, despite the fact that several people have told me they are a waste. So in order to increase my chances of good pictures, I decided to go out and buy 4 different brands of camera. Here are the results:

Best: Fuji or Kodak Brand.

Fuji: I purchased the Fuji Camera with the pop up flash indicator. The pop up glows red and makes it clear that the flash is on. You don't have to look for the red flashing light or listen for the high pitched hiss to know the flash is on. The pictures came out clear and the flash worked great. I paid 19.86 for a four pack of 'celebration' decorated cameras with table cards (at walmart) 800spd film 27 exposures

Kodak - I bought the max cameras with 400spd film. I like the flash on the fuji better. The pics also came out great, but if you buy the wedding pack, its 36$ for 4 cameras with cards

OK- polaroid brand
I bought the polaroid 400spd disposable. You get 6 cameras for 24$ at walmart with table cards. The flash didn't work as well so some of the farther away shots were dark and the pictures were a little grainy

WORST:
I bought the white wedding cameras that you can find all over ebay and the internet (including the knot) loaded with Afga film. The price ranges from 2$ -6$ and the pictures were awful! 1/2 of them didn't come out, the other half were grainy, and most of them had a red line running down the print. Convinced I had a bad camera, I bought another one from a different place and had the exact same problem.

------

In the end I went with the fuji celebration 4 pack from walmart(they even have a developing coupon in the box)

Re: Disposable wedding camera test. Results inside.-From Ally722(TheKnot)

Wish I saw that before my wedding! I bought the white wedding cameras from a vendor, not ebay and most of table camera pics came out grainy, dark and hard to see. I don't know if it was user error or the camera.

GET A CAMERA WITH AUTOMATIC FLASH!! 1//2 dozen people came up to me asking how come the flash won't go off, my cameras you had to turn the switch on.

Cool info, and i agree with automatic flash..people either dont know how to use it, forget to use it or are too drunk to put it on lol

Great info, i was thinking about doing that for just immediate family and the bridal party...since it can get expensive to do all your tables...Thanks for taking the time!!

Are their Dispobable Cameras with an Automatic Flash? I just did a search and found none...only manual flash.

thanks for the info. i'm writing this down for when the time comes for me to purchase my disposables.

we're not getting that many. just enough for every other table and whoever can pick a camera and just take pic's.

thanks again.

I would recommend that. For my wedding (100 guests) I asked 5 people in advance if they would take photos with the disposables. We got some great shots, but the developing adds up really quickly and I am glad we didn't have one on every table. Also, most of the cameras had duplicate photos of the 'big events' The first dance, the cake cutting, etc. so I am glad I didn't have more of those than I did from the 5 cameras.

Thank you! I was going to get disposable cameras too, and didn't know which to get. I was going to go by the cute design on the outside, but I'd much rather go by picture quality!!
