Day care in Nassau County

I know I'm thinking about this very early but I know I'll be coming back to work so I want to be prepared....We'll probably end up going with a nanny but does anyone know of a good day care place in Nassau County I could look into...We live in Garden City. Thanks!

Re: Day care in Nassau County

I also live in GC and am looking for a Nanny. If you find any information on daycare it would be great if you could share. When are you due?

Re: Day care in Nassau County

I'm due May 2nd - when are you due?
the garden city village paper has a bunch of postings from nanny's looking for work. I was also thinking of asking some of the nannies in my neighborhood if they know of anyone. but i guess you can't really start looking until 4-6 weeks before you are going back to work. I'm so scared to hear costs! it's going to be a bit more than we are planning for i think. do you know any costs? our neighbor pays her live-in $350 a week so I believe a live out is going to be at least $500 per week - ugh!

Re: Day care in Nassau County

The people I know used the GC village paper and use nanny's they have been happy. I know two people in my apt complex (Cherry Valley Apts) used to use tutor time that was right after the underpass where old country road ends and herricks begins (down the block from GC High school) I DON'T know IF it is still there this was about 4 years ago - but everyone I know used nannies or were SAHM.

BTW I am moving back to GC in a month - we should all get together - were you able to try any of those restaurants that I gave to you before you moved?

Re: Day care in Nassau County

I'm due at the end of January and would be going back to work at the end of April. I would prefer to have a Nanny come to my house without living in. I have heard they are around $500-550/week. Live-in is definitely cheaper. I'm just nervous about hiring a Nanny without a recommendation.

Re: Day care in Nassau County

Rob-luvs-me - Yes we've tried so many of the restaurants you recommended - thank you - I printed out the list and it's still in the kitchen drawer for referencing....esp. now that I'm pg, eating is one of my favorite pastimes these days!

We should definitely have a GC liweddings get-together when you are back in town - it's such a great town, we love it so far. Let us know when you move back in and we'll plan something

Thanks for the Tutor Time recommendation - I think I have seen that on old country road so i will check that out too....

Re: Day care in Nassau County

mrskb - i know how you feel on hiring a nanny without a recommendation - but a bunch of girls i work with did it and just did a thorough reference check. i think it is a bit scarey as well and i hope i feel comfortable with the process when the time comes. sometimes the village of gc papers have listings from moms that no longer need their nannies but want to find them a good place to go b/c they were with them for so long - maybe you would feel more comfortable with that?

here's the website i've looked at
