Update on Prayers needed...diagnosis is in ***UPDATED ***
Well, the diagnosis came back from my Godfather's liver biopsy and they found what we feared worst: cancer of the liver and one lung.
According to my Mom, it's inoperable and not eligible for chemo but they are going to do some sort of Intravenous therapy (anyone heard of this???) something I've never heard of. I don't know what the chances are, I honestly don't think most of the family is being told the full story
But I hope & pray that he can still live a long, full and happy life. He's home now and on meds which have him feeling better. I'm going to visit him today. His daughter (my cousin) and his two grandkids (her sons) were all in my BP and I am very close with all of them.
Please say a prayer for him....if you can...
Update: My godfather went in for the treatment this Monday and his body was not physically up for it. They have kept him in the hospital since then and the prognosis is the what we feared the worst. The cancer has now spread to the stomach lining and his kidneys are failing.
He has opted for no further treatments and chose to be DNR. They are giving him morphine to keep him comfortable.
His daughter, my cousin, and her brother flew up from FL this week to be with him. I am going to the hospital today. I just pray that I can be strong for them. I just don't understand how this happened so fast.... that has been the hardest part for me to grasp... 2 months ago he was at our wedding and was FINE. And now...

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, they are really appreciated. I hope I can ask for just a few more to help us all get through the next couple of weeks that are sure to be extremely difficult.

Not to upset you but i don't think the prognosis will be good. If it has already spread...it will continue to do so. It really depends on why kind of cancer cells he has...fast or slow.I would think the treatment he is getting is to slow down the growth of the cells...
I am sooo sorry to hear about htis. He will be in my prayers

May you have the hope and strength to get through this. PLEASE tell your godfather and his family to think positive!!! It's the only thing that saved my dad many years ago when he had cancer and they told him he had 8 weeks to live....that was in 1981.....
When I asked my dad why he didn't die...he said because he knew he had to survive for his girls (my sister and I).

I know some about cancer, since my had lung cancer (slow growing and was operable) and my aunt has it now (having chemo now)...
But ya never know...they have new treatments coming out all the time that is prolonging peoples lives! I guess you just have to find out more about the cells and the treatment
again...

I'm so sorry! Hugs and prayers to you and your family!
Also, I would get a second opinion. My father has pancreatic cancer (Stage 3) and was given 90 days. That was a year and three months ago~to the day, 09/05/2003. We got him in to Columbia-Pres and with their specialists, they hav ehim in 100% remission. I do believe that the better the doctor, the better the chances!

I'm so sorry. My mom passed away from cancer. It all depends on how fast it is spreading. The treatments usually slow it down. But if it has spread a lot, it doesn't usually look good.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Same exact thing happened to my grandfather...went in for a biopsy in June, found out he had liver cancer that spread to the lung and they would not give him Chemo. They made him comfortable but he passed on three months later.
I miss him so much every day...I hope your grandfather prognosis has a happier ending.
