Re: HOLIDAY SHOPPING & SAVING FOR A WEDDING

I cancelled Christmas this year for that reason. It sucks because I love exchanging gifts on the holidays and I will only be doing stocking stuffers this year

..and next year too

Re: HOLIDAY SHOPPING & SAVING FOR A WEDDING

I totally agree. Me and FI have set a small budget that we have agreed to spend on each other but we still have to get presents for our family. This is not going to be easy!

Re: HOLIDAY SHOPPING & SAVING FOR A WEDDING

it's true christmas is going to stink this year. I love giving gifts, but I just can't afford it. The only one I'm buying for is my little boy. Thats the most important thing anyways.

Re: HOLIDAY SHOPPING & SAVING FOR A WEDDING

FH & I set aside a small budget for Christmas gifts for the family that will not break the bank & conflict with the wedding savings...FH & I are not exchanging but instead buying something that both of us want & can use which is a digital camera & video recorder!

Re: HOLIDAY SHOPPING & SAVING FOR A WEDDING

We got each other things that we really needed anyway. I bought FH a new suit for Channukah but he just got a promotion and needs it when meeting clients. We scaled down presents for family.

Keep in mind that the Christmas after you get married... you can give people the wedding photo they want anyway. That's what we are going for IL's and it counts as a present. Just shop around for a nice frame.

Re: HOLIDAY SHOPPING & SAVING FOR A WEDDING

I know it is so tight for us this year. I normally exchange gifts with all my friends and we decided to just have a holiday dinner instead of exchanging and for my family I am giving most of them a pretty picture frame or something on the less expensive side. They all understand. We will all get through it!

Re: HOLIDAY SHOPPING & SAVING FOR A WEDDING

we decided this year we are only buying for the kids!! and put a $50 limit. Thank goodness we only had 4 to buy for!!

All the adults understood, when we told them not to buy us anything this year b/c we couldnt afford to do the same. Honestly it was a relief to most people!!! It was 2 more people off there lists!

Its been hard for me b/c usually I go REALLY crazy for xmas and we are super generous with everyone.. but what can I do? My wedding is RIGHT around the corner

Re: HOLIDAY SHOPPING & SAVING FOR A WEDDING

Three words:
Sale, Coupons, Sale

If its not on sale and I can't use a coupon, it doesn't get purchased.

The list is short, though, mostly co-workers (I have a tiny family).

Good Luck to all of you ladies!
