What does the matron of honor do?
OK, so my best friend is getting married 2 months after me. I'm not having a wedding party so I'm clueless when it comes to their duties.I accepted to role of Matron of honor...what am I responsible for? Please help!
Oh, and she's also having a Maid of honor.

Re: What does the matron of honor do?
Basically it is the same as maid of honor. Historically, women were called maid if they were unmarried, you will be married so you are the matron.Anything goes these days. My MOH (matron) lives out of state and has an infant daughter. While she is a part-time wedding planner, she can only do so much for me via the web, phone and giving me ideas. I don't have anyone else in my wedding party.
Talk to the bride and maid of honor and see how you can split up responsibilities. Traditionally you help the bride, organize the shower, keep her on time and attend to her during the wedding day (some girls are better at this than others), plan the bachelorette party. Not in that order
though.

Re: What does the matron of honor do?
My MOH is doing everything...she helped me make appointments to see halls, has gone to bridal expos, came with me and mom to find a wedding gown, is planning bridal shower, organizing the bridal party to help find BM dresses, planning for bachelorette party, sign the marriage license, help with odds and ends and running around. My MOH is so organized and has made my life so much easier. But I think her most valuable role is that she's always there for me to lean on.
