Did you ever get a gift that you honestly didn't know what it was??Added Pic!!

My aunt dropped off some gifts for DH and I the other day and we have know clue what the one thing is. It is a ceramic bowl, but we don't know if it is a candy dish or ash tray. I say candy dish, DH says its an ashtray!! Hold on, I am going to go take a pic!!

Anyone ever get an unidentifiable gift??

It looks like the thing that Demi Moore was making during Ghost that sort of fell over and died when she got busy w/Patrick Swayze - maybe she made it in class somewhere?

It has a very homemade look to it! I think you can use it for whatever you want.

DH's boss sent us this very random ceramic bowl as a wedding gift. I call the color 'smurf blue'. We decided it makes a excellent bagel bowl, if we're serving bagels for 20 or so! Otherwise, we're not sure what to do with it.

Re: Did you ever get a gift that you honestly didn't know what it was??Added Pic!!

My aunt is a nun, and meets all kinds of people in her travels and thats how she picked this, from a woman in her travels. Last Christmas she gave us a big ceramic bowl with four small bowls, a pasta set, I really loved the pasta set, but maybe I got too excited, because now all I get from her is these weird ceramic things. I think at the wedding she gave me some weird ceramic birdhouse thing. Some lady in Pennsylvania makes the stuff. Well, DH likes it as an ashtray for his cigars, so I think thats what it will be!! I guess the ashtray is better than the kitty cat t-shirt she gave me two years ago! She seems to always have a knack at getting the perfect gift!

I love people like ethat.

EtA: It kinda reminds me of that commercial of the women who makes that bowl in pottery that they eat soup out of. Even though it looks nothing like that but the way you put it. it was the first thing in my mind.

Hey! I made tons of these in my pottery class, they are the most beginner piece--and useful in so many ways (well, not quite SO useful, but still).

That commercial's really funny. The guy's like: 'Hey, I got a noodle.'

But anyway, yeah it's definately a mulitpurpose item. Use it however it works best for you.

goodness thought we were the only ones to get that bowl -
figured it would make a great cereal bowl for a giant.
dh filled it with water to see how much it would hold - it took a full gallon - right now it is just collecting dust on the kitchen cupboard

Use it for potpurri (sp??) of for candy. It can be the topic of discussion when people see it on the coffee table.
