repost from NWR- hotels in NYC

DH and I are going to spend th weekend in the city for my b-day. When I first looked, The Ameritania had rooms available and since we've stayed there before we knew it was nice. When I went to book it, it wasn't available. Does anyone have any suggestions? We're looking to be in Times Square/Broadway area and want the room to be under $175 a night. TIA!

Re: repost from NWR- hotels in NYC

There is this hotel called Club Quarters. They have 2 hotels in manhattan. Rates are about 99 bucks when I stayed there last. Place is well kept and clean. Just noone knows about it.

Club Quarters, Midtown
40 West 45th Street
(Between Fifth and Sixth Avenues)
New York, NY 10036
Phone: (212) 354-6400
Fax: (212) 575-5696

Club Quarters, Downtown
52 William Street
(Between Wall & Pine Streets)
New York, NY 10005
Phone: (212) 269-6400
Fax: (212) 269-6464

You need to be affiliated with a sister organization to get a room there. But they do not ask for any verification whatsoever. One such organization is the University of Pennsylvania. You can say you are an alumni, former employee, that your niece went to school there whatever, just need to name the place when they ask for it.

You need a password to access the website. You can FM if you want the Univ of PA password.

Re: repost from NWR- hotels in NYC

My advice: Read up at Bidding For Travel and use Priceline.
