Where did your moms get MOB dressses

hi ladies

looking for some suggestions to where you and your moms went looking for MOB dresses. My mom and I are hopefully going to go this week and I have no idea where to begin

Names, locations and even phone numbers (so i can call and get directions) would be great.

We live in Bellmore - so any place in Nassau or Suffolk would be great.

My mom is young - only 50 so we are looking for something not fardy dardy

thanks in advance
jenn

Re: Where did your moms get MOB dressses

you should definitely check out Alta Moda in Bellmore on Merrick Rd.. my mom is getting her dress there.. she tried on a couple of styles, then they totally customize a dress for you.. I think it is definitely worth a trip and it is right in your backyard!

Dina's on South Oyster Bay Rd in Plainview. Very friendly and helpful, great selection...and best of all, not snobby.

not sure of the address- but if you look them up on like Verizon.com- I am sure they are there.. My mom tried on a dress that looked awesome on here- and the are making a custom version of it- so it will be the same shape- but, it won't look anything like the original dress- it will just look just as good on her. Work with Kim. I think you will need to make an appt.

Re: Where did your moms get MOB dressses

I second Alta Moda. THey are wonderful in there. They will custom make anything for you, plus theres lots to try on. My mom got her dress at a place called Menekshe in Cedarhurst- they have niec stuff but the woman is nuts. She also looked at Fillys in Roslyn, Bridal Reflections (where I got my dress), Moonlight Coutre (Merrick) and a place in the Woodbury COmmons shopping center area. Also Mieko in Woodbury.

Re: Where did your moms get MOB dressses

I don't know if you want to entertain this thought but how about Saks or Lord & Taylor? A few moms I know (I work in a school) got their dresses there and they were really nice. When I went to L&T to browse for my mom, they had MOB designers right on the rack!

Mine got hers at Lord and Taylor! They have a huge formal dress department, many not the usual covered MOB dresses if she wants to show some skin...

My Mom and Aunts all went to Estelles. Mom tried on two and the third was it! We had never heard of the place but we seemed to be the only ones who hadn't.

Re: Where did your moms get MOB dressses

EVA'S In Sayville. My mom got her dress for my wedding there and her dress for my sister's. One is a one of a kind Bob Mackie (sp) and another is also one of a kind by Demetrios (not related to the bridal company). They have awesome dresses that not everyone else can go in and buy, so your mom won't have to worry about someone else having the same or similar dress.

Aryiana Fashions on Main Street in Patchogue has some nice dresses in all types of styles and they are fairy inexpensive. Friend's FMIL got her dress there for only $139 and an additional $12 for a matching shawl.

My mom got hers at Saks and if we didn't find anything there we were headed to Lord and Taylor. They have great dresses from great designers and they're a little different from the 'standard' MOB dress.

Re: Where did your moms get MOB dressses

Bridal Reflections in Massapequa 795-2222(right by the Massapequa train station, North of Sunrise Highway) They have a HUGE selection of gowns - My mom and I went all over the place and to be honest........many of the places were kind of dumpy .....- BR was the only place she was comfortable, it's very clean, very orgainzed, and the staff is very professional - they actually know what they're doing.
My mom's gown is gorgeous and perfect for her........She didn't want to look like a Grandma, but she didnt' want to look like she was trying to get back the last 25 years either.......(She's 54)
- There is also a BR in Carle Place.
Good Luck !! - Getting my mom's gown was more of a project than getting mine !!!
