Very bad experience with dress designer today!!! LONG- Need to vent

So my FMIL's Best friend tells me to go see/meet her dress designer friend. I look her up online and see she has gorgeous dresses. So I am excited because the designer said that she no longer does custom dresses but is willing to make an exception for me because I am coming to her from a friend's refferral..blah blah. So I go to her studio with 2 BMs, only to have her treat me like crap!!! She says that a custom gown would start at $6000. I tell her that she has beautiful dresses, I don't need a custom one, I can choose one from her collection easily. She says which one do you like, I show her my favorite, she says that one costs $4000 plus $500 each alteration visit!!!!! Have you ever heard of such a thing???!!! I just said sorry to waste your time, too much money, bye-bye.

Now I had said to FMILs friend that I do not have a $3000+ budget for my dress. She said don't worry, she is reasonable and you are my friend she will give you a good deal as a courtesy.

I am so sad. I left in almost tears. FH says she probably didn't want to be bothered with me and inflated her prices to get rid of me.

Sorry so long.. just wanted to vent.

he's probably right... sometimes vendors do that ... sorry it happened to you.

You will find a dress perfect for you withing your budget.

I know it is disappointing, but try not to let this woman bother you. It isreally her loss........if she doesn;t want to treat your right as a customer, there are other places that will!!

I am sorry to hear about this!! I hope you find a beautiful dress... there are a lot of other places you can look that are a lot more reasonable.

Good luck, try not to let this experience ruin your search for a gown-it is so exciting!!!
