30th Bday party - location suggestions needed??

Ladies, I want to have a surprise 30th bday for my husband, but need help in finding a location. Originally I wanted to have a cocktail party feel at a bar/pub on Long Island. But I am now also considering renting a KofC/VFW type place and having it catered. I would prefer Nassau or eastern Suffolk. Any suggestions? And do you know how I find/contact halls?

I heard the knights of Columbus in Ocean side is really nice. The Pompei In west Hempstead is great also, There is Filomenas in franklin square which is a reasturant. Lourde gregorys ale house in floral park which is a bar with a private room and Henry's in floral park has a private room also.

there is a vfw on pulaski road in huntington.

If you go to www.switchboard.com and type in VFW or KOC and the location you want, a bunch of VFW's and KOC's will come up. I'm actually throwing my DH a suprise 30th this Sat. I was looking at a few VFW's and KOC's but one place wanted about $700 for the rental. I thought that was pricey so I decided to do a resturant thing instead. Good luck!

my 30 was at the east meadow fireman benevolent hall its nice there it is off front street in east meadow
