Ideas of what to give a 1st time expecting mom...not having a large shower & she isn't registering.

I need ideas of what to give! One of DH oldest friends girlfriend is expecting in April. His mom is throwing a SMALL intimate luncheon. But we really want to give them nice & USEFUL things! They live in Bklyn in a apartment. I think her family & his family are buying the furniture & larger item things.

Besides the obvious clothes what were the 'I can't live without this!!!' things you girls have for the kiddies!?!!

Maybe a tub filled with lotions, bath stuff, towels, wash clothes, toys, infant meds (tylenol and mylecon etc).

Bibs, receiving blankets, burp cloths, monitor,teething rings, pacifiers, blankets, diaper pail, diapers, baby wipes and onesies.
You can make a diaper cake. You can make a basket full of all these great things.
You can give a gift certificate for the baby store where they will be shopping. There are always so many more things they will need.
You can give them a book of say Baby's First Year so they know what to expect or some book on when to call the dr or what to do if..... for example baby has a fever.

If she is due soon and they have a car...i.e. they have a car seat....a lot of people I know received and LOVED the fleece covered snuggly thing that fits in the car seat....
