Just to give you an idea how insane the market is and how much it has gone up...we bought our house in 2000 for $234k. We just had it appraised about 6 months ago and it's now $550k...and we didn't so anything major to it, just paint, etc.

I wish that's all a house cost around here.
I'm a real estate appraiser, I know. We're looking in the 600-700k range and we still can't find anything we like in a good school district.
Oh, we're in Westchester. :(
