NWR I had a car accident this morning
right down the block from where that 17 yr old girl died the other morning
I was taking my daughter to school and the car in front of me stopped short so when I went to stop short I was all over the road so instead of hitting him I turned the wheel and went up on the sidewalk and hit a fire hydrant
I called a cop when I got home to report it and fh went back by the car and gave the cop my info
will my insurance go up now??
p.s All 3 of us are ok (me,8yrold and 3yrold)

is there alot of damage?
If you can pay out of pocket for the damage then do not report it to you're insurance company . but if you get an estimate done and you can not pay out of pocket then you will neen to report it to you're insurance company.
the surcharge may go up only because they do not have another company to subrogate .
find out how much the damage is 1st before you do anything

Aww...I'm so sorry to hear you had a horrible morning. I think now insurance goes up regardless of the type of claim...even no-fault.
Glad to hear everyone is ok.

there is no body damage but since the van went up on the sidewalk the whole undercarriage is messed up
my fbil is a mechanic and he was cursing about it under his breath so its pretty bad

well there wont be a claim right?? because there wasnt another car involved
if you can not pay out of pocket
you would report it and they would fix the veh under your collison coverage but you would have to come up with you're deductable

I'm so sorry to hear that-the most important thing is that you and your children are all ok-I hope everything works out
I'm not too informed on all the insurance stuff but if you dont report it to them (you dont have to i'm pretty sure since another vehicle wasn't involved) then it wont go up-if it really expensive to repair you might want to so then you only have to pay your deductible. But your insurance would probably go up a bit if you report it

well..from my experience..hitting public proterty and not reporting can cause problems down the road....(maybe)
a quick verison of my story
fw hit the side of the road 2.5 years ago under an other insurance co.... a few months ago, NYS sent a bill to our current insurance carrier to fix the wall she it (left paint marks, wall is fine) current company sent it back to NYS saying they didnt insure it at the time of accident. so, i dont know what happens after that.. from what i was told, insurance claims must be filed in 3 yrs (really close when NYS sent in info) I dont know if my old company got anything yet.
as long as your ok...thats what counts.. and you did the right thing by not hitting her. you avoided a multi-car accident...

Glad you all are okay.
Don't know much about insurance other than to say mine did NOT go up when I hit a pedestrian?!?!? This was in like 1990. She was not badly injured since I was only going like 5 mph making a turn from a complete stop. It was totally not my fault and she darted out into an 8 lane road. I think I had State Farm at the time.

That goodness you are ok! Thats all that matters! My mother just got into a major accident and is now having knee surgury next thusday....and thank goodness she is alive! Becasue it was so bad, and they totalled the car. ....so u never know... As long as all 3 of u are ok!!

I was so scared this morning. My FBIL just called and said I might have my car back tonight which I thought would take days maybe weeks to fix but he said he is trying(he is awesome)
The police wont call my insurance company right???
I am happy we are alive my 3 yr old daughter is finally calm down she was asking me where the car is and what that noise was and all that for a few hours but she has stopped I have to pick up the accident report tomorrow

Glad no one was hurt. Did the guy in front of you atleast stop to help? I don't know much about insurance but before turning it in I would definetly call around first to see if you'd get a good price having it fixed yourself.

he didnt stop to ask if we were ok
the fire hydrant is fixed already......hope I dont have to pay for it
