Anyone else wonder if your job keeps a secret log of your LIW time somewhere?

I'm convinced that all my LIW time is going to come back to me here at work somehow and that I'm going to get fired for the thousands of hours I've spent here! I'm sure there is a way of checking - not that I'm really that worried though... I think my boss would have to see me more than once a week to even suspect the amount of time I'm here on LIW!

YES!! I read somewhere that 74% of companies track their employees' Internet usage.

I know they track our internet usage, but think it's only if it's questionable content. I'm not sure if they keep a continuous tab running on every single person's internet usage, but then again, I don't know for sure!

I use LIW as a way to get some biz...and Its working so, Im in the safe of getting in trouble for spending my 8hr day on LIW!

that's interesting - what field are you in that actually encourages LIW time? I'm in Publishing - wonder if I could use that as a reason if ever conforonted about this!

I delete all internet files and cookies everyday. Who knows if they track it though. I'd be waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy gone from here!

I get nervous. I usually clear my history, but there must be still other ways to check out internet usage right?

Yea Michelle, you also need to clear your cache files and temp internet files & such. But even so IT does have a way to track usage (if they wanted to).

Scary!!!

Like all these pics on this page are stored onto the hard drive of the computer (all the ad pics & such)--I believe (for any site you go onto).

my last job tracked. We had a firewall and if you went to a naughty site it would give you a big black screen warning you, and we would get an email notice with what site you went to. But it also kept a log of not what you visited, but how much data was transmitted back and forth. So if the # was big it meant you did lots of surfing.
The biggest offender was the President of the company. He would look at porn all day!!! So he asked to have his computer be taken off the firewall.
I'm not sure if they do it with my current job, but the hospital is in charge of the internet side of things, and I don't work for the hospital. I'm with an outside company. And it's run by two guys who are never in their office, so I doubt anyone knows what I'm doing. ANd if they did, I really don't care. I'm hoping to move within the year anyway.

I am a senior IT guy... and I can track whatever you do... whenever you do it.

Clearing your cookies and cache does nothing cause tracking gets logged when you go to the site and it gets logged to my admin PCs.

Oh that's great!!! I don't have to log on to my computer though (I have 2 in my classroom)

That is why I don't go on LIW at my new job At my old job I didn't care!
