POLL: Ivory Shirt or White Shirt? (Girls with Ivory Gowns, or Girls with White Gowns and an Opinion)

Ok. My dress is ivory (and a definite ivory - not diamond white, but not champagne or spun gold). My BM dresses are navy with an ivory sash and the FGs are wearing all ivory.

What do the boys wear? FH will be going shortly (hopefully ) to look at tuxes and I'd like to set this for him since he'll be picking everything else. They will be looking at black tuxes with either

pewter ascot and vests (for all)
OR
all black for the GM and I guess all ivory for FH

What color shirt do they wear? I don't want them to look dirty in an ivory shirt when standing by themselves but I don't want my dress, the girls sash and the FG dresses to look dirty standing next to their crisp white shirts.

Help!!!

I am having the same issues
I have a diamond white dress
my fg are ivory/wine and the littlest is ivory
what should I do also???

I voted for let em go neked b/c I thought that was a really adorable response to include in your poll! LOL

However, I'd have them wear white - I just like white better when it comes to guys' shirts - but then again, either way will be nice.

I voted for white. The guys will be wearing black anyway, so it's not like they'll be matching with the navy dresses. White with black looks nice and crisp. And btw, the ivory and navy is going to look beautiful - very classic.

I'm wearing a definite ivory too with gold beading. My FH and GM's will be wearing black jackets with white shirts - and tartan ties and KILTS!

I'm having the same dilemma--my dress is definitely ivory. So I thought ivory shirts, so that my dress doesn't look 'off.' But I wasn't too happy with that decision. My mom made an excellent point--ivory shirts only became an option very recently! So, before that everyone wore white shirts anyway, and people never even thought about it. So, I'm going with white.

Ok, then what does FH wear if they're wearing white shirts? To match me he'd technically have to wear an ivory vest and tie - would that look dumb over a white shirt? Should he be in all black too with the rest of them?

I had an ivory dress and also had the same poll before making my decision.

We went with ivory shirts and it didn't look dirty at all.

Definitely ivory. My gown is silk and even I need the boys in ivory shirts or else I'll look dirty

bring a swatch of your gown. The tux shop with have fabric samples for you to compare.

I had an ivory gown, but dh had to wear a white vest because the ivory vests were WAY darker than my ivory gown.

You definitely need to match your dress with the grooms shirt. He needs to wear ivory. Since the girls have ivory on their dresses also I would definitely go with ivory on the groomsmen...

I have the same issue. I'm leaning toward ivory, but he's got a tux already and I'm not sure where to buy ivory accessories. I've only seen white. If anyone knows, please share. I don't want to rent just a shirt.

Does anyone have pictures of an ivory shirt? I don't think I've ever seen one! My gut would say for the men to wear ivory, but again, I have no idea what it looks like....Good Luck!

i have an ivory dress too, i think we'll go with ivory shirts but i'm going to bring in a swatch of material from my dress to see how it looks with white.

Definitely go with ivory! I brought a swatch of my dress with me, and the ivory shirts matched perfectly. I have a pic. in my avatar where you can kind of see, but so glad we went with the ivory and not white.

Don't worry about diamond white. Even my veil is white and it doesn't make the dress look dingy.

At our tux place they showed us ivory against white and you might not think it but WOW what a difference. We had the entire bridal party in ivory not just my husband because if he was in ivory and the others were in white then he'd look dingy.

ETA: Once everone is dressed you really can't tell it's not white they look pretty much the same so you might not notice it in pics.
