buying a new tv- have questions

I decided to get rid of the tv that is on the fritz and buy another one. I cannot afford the $$ HDTV or plasmas but they have tube tvs that have a flat screen which are nice.

anyone have these? which one is the best one? I am looking for a 27-32 inch for my living room.

question: do I have to get one that is HDTV ready.. when will high tech kick in and be mandatory for all tvs?

will I still be ablt to plug in my cable and DVD with the new tvs?

I sound ridicuolus but i truly have NO IDEA???

My husband works for the cable company. He said Sony's and Mitsubishi's have the best picture. And that you don't have to worry about HDTV taking over. Its a great feature though. some of the HI def channels that cablevison carries are amazing and they don't charge extra for them, plus your DVD's never looked the same!

Your DVD player should work with any TV you buy now days.
