registering question
I really want to register soon, but my fiance wants nothing to do with it. For some reason he thinks its tacky, because you are telling people what to get you. Anyway he does not want to go with me. SO what do I do??? Should I go alone???? I would hate to ask my BM's to come, they have already done alot. And I can't ask my mom, she's doesn't live near me. Would I look like a loser going by myself
edited for spelling

Re: registering qiestion
I went by myself - I have no family or any BM's on Long Island - and there was no one else I really felt comfortable bringing. If your fiance doesnt want to have anything to do with it then it gives you the chance to choose what you like. If he doesnt like it he had his chance to voice his opinion!!!
Go it alone - you'll be surprised how easy it is - and you don't have to worry about offending anyone else if you don't happen to like what they do. The registry dept. in stores are often very helpful too.
Good Luck!

Re: registering qiestion
I would have preferred to go by myself. FI and I went the first time together and he really didn't have a big interest and just played with most of the kitchen gadgets. :)Everytime I've gone to update/change them, I go alone or just do them online.

Re: registering question
County your blessings...my FH has very strong decorative opinions (he's an artist) and his tastes and mine at times but heads. It was nice for the support but I would have rather have had him stay home and me pick out what I like....as for registry=solicitation of gifts....since people are going to be purchasing gifts for you any way, registered or not, you giving the buyer something to buy that they KNOW you want....

Re: registering question
I suggest that you start as soon as you can. I left this for now and it is very time consuming. I went with my FH the first time and he drove me crazy.
And I must tell you....with the planning, he has helped me with everything. Very involved with everything and I'm really happy about that. I went back with my MOH and then alone. I update things online as well. You cannot finish this in one day therefore I suggest that you start as soon as you can. And let me give you a tip that helped me tremendously. Before you go, make a list of what you will be registering for and what you will be needing for your new home. Bed, Bath and Beyond have a great list on their website. I checked everything I needed and use it for all of the places I was registering at.

Re: registering question
You can even register online if you don't want to go to the store. My FI and I registered over the weekend and I saw girls with their mom and by themselves too! You are not a loser! So he doesn't care that you will be picking everything out???

Re: registering question
You definately would NOT look like a loser going by yourself-If you really want to take someone I'm sure one of your BM's would be happy to tag along -I dont think they would mind having done a lot already-that is part of the reason you chose them right!?!

Re: registering question
i started my registry myself at macys. my mom wants to buy me an engagement gift, and if you register in person, you get 5-10% back on your purchases. so i only registered so far for what she wants to buy me.i like to shop alone and honestly, i like what i like and FH doesnt care either way- so i say- go alone! if you get a good bridal consultant, she can help you out, as the one i spoke with in macys had awesome taste.
hell, ill go with you if you want!

I titally agree with doing it on-line. Fh and I went to 1 store together and I did 2 others on line by myself. It was great and so easy!
good luck!
