I'm Here, I'm Here! Review of Engagement Party - AND PIX! - NOW with my advice!

Hi Girls! First, I want to apologize for being MIA lately. I was out sick yesterday after the party so I didn't get a chance to do my review! Here is a link to my photo album to see all the photos... I'll do a little review.

My Engagement Party Photos!

First, if you are thinking of doing an engagement party, DO IT! It was so much fun. We had it at his firehouse and it was a great time!

The best success was the sangria - FH made it and everyone loved it. It was flowing and we had to send out for some more sangria wine - we went through 6 gallons! The beverage dispenser that I bought also rocked and it was great! It stained a little but it was awesome.

The food was great - but I didn't eat! The crowd was kicking and my friends and family (and his too!) were so generous. It was a great mix and now I feel like our wedding is going to be awesome.

I went with my flower guy in LIC, but the quality wasn't that good. But I think my centerpieces came out ok nonetheless. The perfect pair theme was in effect and everyone loved my favors (the pear candles). The weather was awesome and except for an overturned vehicle on Route 80, everyone got there and home ok. I was so honored to have friends and fam come see me!

Went out afterwards and it was great - also had good room rates for people who stayed.

Edited on 2/15/06: I have a few words of advice to future engagement party gals. Everyone said that they had a good time, and I am so glad but here are some thoughts for you.
1. Wish that I made sure I introduced everyone. I was relying on mothers and others to introduce but I think FH still never met one of my cousins! URGH!
2. If you are having it at a house or hall hire a waitress or someone to refill the sangria (!), clear dishes, change chafing dishes, etc. I wish we did for the following reason
3. Eat. I spent so much money and I didn't eat. That makes me . The food was great but I was too sick the next day to eat properly.
4. Don't imbibe too much. I made myself not drink during the party and then went crazy later on. Wish I just stuck to soda all night long.
5. Try - but don't beat yourself up on - mingling with people. I wish I talked to more people.
All of this will be great info for me next year. It gave me a great preview as to how I want the wedding to be! Good Luck Girls!

Hey Kissy - yes, so excited that I now have a MOH and bridal party... we were waiting for the party and I was about to burst!

On the BHB board, I posted the pics up close of the cards - they came out awesome - just loved them.

It was so much fun....and now we can start booking vendors!

I love the bridesmaids cards...where did you get those?? Did your BM have any idea before you engagement party?? That was such an awesome idea!

Nope, I was really secretive about the whole thing... I never even posted them on here because my MOH is SFP0214 (05 Bride).

I wrote a description on the BHB board...it was really easy.

To link my two posts, here is info on how I did the bridesmaids cards...

I was hoping someone would ask!
I went to AC Moore and picked up a ten-pack of cards with the nice edges. Then, I got scrapbook sticker things - originally I wanted dresses, but when I saw the manequins I thought - PERFECT (since I have no idea about dresses yet!) and got the little invites and flowers.

Inside I got vellum and printed them on my computer, cut them to size and attached with photo squares. I printed each name on the envelopes with my computer as well.

Very easy and the girls loved them. It was something affordable but meaningful. I seriously should start a business making them - they were so cutie.

It was great to take SFP0214 aside and ask her - and it made the night even better to consciously take them aside.

They were actually there from Christmas, so we kept them there...everyone thought we hung them! It's a firehouse, so it can only be SO pretty, but it looked really good in my opinion!

Thanks for the compliment - I really wanted to do something special. I've been asked in nice ways as well but I wanted something they can look at, something they could show their moms, something that they could keep to remember how important they are to me. These are my very special friends and I wanted them to know that. I am excited... except for the fact that they are all size 4 beauties who will be so glamorous on my wedding day!!! HAHAHA!!!
