Who wants to talk DISNEY WORLD?

As I've said before, I'm suffering form disney withdrawal, especially reading about all of the new stuff (starting may5)!

For resort guests:

Magical Express: FREE airport shuttle, and you don't have to go to baggage claim. Like magic, your bags are in your room upon check-in.

MORE Extra Magic Hours. Instead of one hour every morning, different parks will have different extra magic hours, some parks in the morning, some for 3 extra hours at night (this replaces e-ride night, and is available at all 4 parks, not just MK like the old e-ride night)

Moderate resorts now have refrigerators for free!

For Annual Passholders:
New "Photopass". You get a card in your mickey monitor and when you get your pics taken by the disney photogrpahers (such as our on main street, in front of the tree of life, when you go meet characters, etc), you hand them the card, and then you can look at your pictures online FROM HOME for up to 30 days, so you don't have to hassle with waiting online and deciding right away! So cool.

Passholder T Shirt for Pal mickey! (I want one!)

For Everyone:

Magic Kingdom:
Cinderella's castle decked out in gold with favorite characters and scenes for the HAppiest Celebration on Earth.

Grand reopening of It's a Small World, totally remastered with new surprises

New Cinderellabration show in front of the castle (I think this repalces Cinderella's surprise celebration), originally from DL paris

And new since I've been there last is the new "Stitch's Great Escape" replacing Alien Encounter!

EPCOT: New ride, "Soarin' Over California", from DL Cali's California adventure park

MGM: New Automotive stunt show. It looks REALLY cool from the footage I've seen

Animal Kingdom: Lucky the Dinosaur - talking animatronic dinosaur, actually interacts with guests!

Also, typhoon lagoon has a new "water coaster", and i think they'll probbaly come up with a new daytime MK parade, the "Share a Dream Come True" parade is a holdover from the "100 years of magic" celebration.

I'm really psyched about all of this new stuff. i know it's so impractical, but I think FH and I are going to plan a trip!

can you give a rough estimate on how much it costs to go for 2 people? DH and I could drive it from Georgia and I'd LOVE to go with him!!

Re: Who wants to talk DISNEY WORLD?

It depends on how long you want to stay and what time of year.

There are completely NEW tickets that just cam eout and I don't know much about them.

They're called "magic Your Way" passes. I think it's like $30 a day for 7 days (and it increases the fewer days you stay)...this is really cheap considering that the old passes were ver $50 a day, but included park hop...But you can add park hopping (the ability to visit more than one park per day) for $45 on top of the total ticket price. These new tickets sound really reasonable, but check out disneyworld.com for details.

I have an annual pass, for the regular annual pass it includes admission to all four park, and various discounts including (MOST IMPORTANTLY) hotel discounts. You can get up to 50% off! With the old ticket scheme the APs were worth it if you planned on going for 8 days or more during the entire year. I don't know the equivalent for the new tickets, but I know that between our two trips the last time we had AP's the $$ we saved on the hotel more thanpaid for it. Regukar annual passes cost I think $468...I could be wronf, but it's something like that, then there ar premium annual passes, which include unlimited admission to all 4 parks, 2 waterparks, golf, disney quest and pleasure island, they're about I think they went up to $540 p/p.

The value hotels start at $79-110 (AP rates as low was $55) (rates depend on time of year)

The moderates start at $133 -200 or so (We stayed there for $74 last year)

and the deluxe hotels are $200 and up.

We're stayed at both values and moderates and they're ABOUT the same, the theming and service are a little better, ALL are VERY clean, very new and gorgoeus..if you want recomendations, just ask.

So that's the non package route.

the new packages include the "magic your way pass" and sometimes have added extras. They also now have meal plans you can add on where you get vouchers for a certain # of meals per day.

The first time we went, we booked a package, without the annual pass, and it was about $1100 for the two of us for 5 days, staying at a value resort.

Subsequently we went for 6 days, bought premium AP's the first tme, so the first trip was $1100 just for the AP's but then just $300 for the hotel, and then the next trip was only $350 for the hotel and that was it. , so it averaged out to less than $900 per 6 day trip, and we stayed at better hotels and stayed longer than before, and saved $$ on other things with the passes. I HIGHLY recommend the Annual pass.

I hope that helped. I don't know too much about the new tickets and package. i had asked about then, and they're pretty cheap, but the hotel savings make the annual passes make much more sense for us. best of luck!

We are going in March! We're not staying on property, but this would totally sway me for next time! that is awesome, especially with all the baby items!

Anyone know what we can expect the weather to be like? 60's, 70's, 80's or its a toss up?

YAY! I love disney. How do the timeshares work? That's something we defintiey want to do when we're married, and I've heard they aren't that $$$$.

I've never been there in march, but I guess 70's-80's!

We bought the disney vacation club (I think it was about 12,000) but we are finacing it. We own for 50 years. We bought enough points to guarantee us an entire week during holidays (when I am off as a teacher). However, we can stay longer than a week on less popular times. It is very affordable and you get some discounts and perks for owning.

It's only 12,000 for 50 years? Do you have to pay anything additional annually or to redeem points? I think that's SO worth it

Re: Who wants to talk DISNEY WORLD?

Kristen, April is the MOST expensive time of the year (aside form xmas), it's Peak Season, Also Late August Early september are expesnive, too!

The LEAST expensive times to go are january through mid february (not president's day, then it starts getting crowded), March and April are crazy b/c of spring break, school trips, etc. May and June are actually cheaper and less crowded because kids are still in school and spring breaks are over. Mid June-Mid August is the "regular" season, pretty crowded, but not as bad, and then starting in the end of August (when a lot of people from up north brign their kids) into spetember is sort of busy, october i think is also sort of busy, comparable to june, and then they say the absolutel quietest time of year is beytween thanksgiving and christmas! When we went in january the longest line we waited on at all was 15 minutes, and that was the absolutel longest. We went the following january and they were doing a promotiion so a lot of kids had taken their kids out of shcool (it was THAT cheap), so it was more crowded.

Anyway,w e have found january/fen and may/june to be really reasonable if that's something that works for you.

FH keeps playing the lottery, and if we win, he syas he's taking me on a trip around the world to all of the Disney resorts

For our Honeymoon,m we're not sure where we're going, but we know it has to involve disney. My big dream is to run around disney in those bride and groom minnie and mickey hats! Right now we're thinking of WDW and the caribbean. We honestly never get bored of WDW.

Oh if we go in may, we're thinking of staying at Carribbean Beach. Who's been there? Is it nice?

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter last time and LOVED it..SO romantic!

I know! I have been calling disney EVERY DAY!

Although they usually send me an email the day before they're released to teh public, but they won't now...I'm actually surprised I got my mickey monitor. I let my AP expire. if we decide to go back in May, as we're planning, I'm going to re buy it in may, so that we can have a later anniversary date...
