The Offer of a life time. Question& Poll Repost from 05Brides

Ok. Lets say you were offered a job but it was only for 6 months. They offered you a crazy insane salary for those 6 months that is more than you make in a whole year. But there was a lot of travel involved for 3 of those 6 months, say 5 days a week away from home. On one hand you'd be away from FH a lot and it would be very stressful. On the other hand you'd have your wedding paid in full with money left over and not have any budget worries for your wedding. What would you do?

Do you have a job to go back to at the end of the 6 months?

I usually only see FH once, at max twice a week anyway, so it'd be nice to finally make a decent salary!

Re: The Offer of a life time. Question& Poll Repost from 05Brides

I said no.

Not so much because I couldn't be away from FH, its noth really that, but more of the hastle of travel. Traveling stresses me out and wears me out. I don't think I could travel for 3 month.

Re: The Offer of a life time. Question& Poll Repost from 05Brides

Id have to say no but not for the reason you gave. I get severe motion sickness and if I had to travel extensively for 6 months, I'd either be in a state of constant nausea or be heavily drugged from Dramamine or that time release patch. Dramamine works but that patch makes me dizzy and disoriented. I simple couldn't do that for 6 months.

I am well adjusted enough and have enough faith in my relationship with FH that we do not have to be with each other for every waking minute of the day. I think my parents are married as long as they are (49 years in May) because they WERE NOT with each other 24/7. Dad had work and mom had a home to keep with 4 kids. The time they spent together was enough to fulfill them.

Re: The Offer of a life time. Question& Poll Repost from 05Brides

I believe there are times you have to make sacrifices in order for things to work out.
I would do it!!!
My FH is a PO who unfortunately has crazy hrs as it is. It would test our relationship if I had taken on something like that but in the long run, wedding stress would be gone and we would have a great wedding with no worries and each other at the end. Go for it!!
JMO
Good luck!

FH and I are inseperable - but I would still do it. 6 months is NOTHING in the scheme of your entire relationship! Go for it...

Re: The Offer of a life time. Question& Poll Repost from 05Brides

I answered yes. I love my FI and hate being away from him. But we work crazy hours and often just see each other at night for an hour and then he goes to bed. I would do it for 6 months, knowing that at the end of that period, we would be more financially secure.

Re: The Offer of a life time. Question& Poll Repost from 05Brides

I didn't vote b/c it would depend on what would happen job wise afterwards. Even if its a lot of money, if you are then unemployed it could take you over a year to find another job.

Re: The Offer of a life time. Question& Poll Repost from 05Brides

i never see FH anyway. maybe they would send me to HIS town!! hahha.

the only reason why i would say no, is what happens after that 6 months. what about medical (that's the only reason i don't work parttime!). hmmm...

otherwise, if the money was a rockin, i'd be a knockin'!

Re: The Offer of a life time. Question& Poll Repost from 05Brides

My whole situation points in the right direction. FH will be starting the fire academy this summer so I won't see him much anyway. I hate my current job and planned on quitting after the wedding anyway to finish school. So I'm not worried about a job after the 6 months. And since he already works for FDNY I can hop onto his medical ins when ever I want to. I'm guess I'm just waiting to see the exact amount they're offering me before I say yes. Thanks for all the input girls.
