Black tie Optional

A friend is getting married at the Garden CIty Hotel....and it is going to be black tie optional. Am I supposed to wear a black dress or just a fancy dress in any color?

Thanks

Re: Black tie Optional

You don't have to wear black. Typically you would wear a full length dress to a black tie.

Re: Black tie Optional

A dress in any color is fine. You could wear either floor length or a very nice cocktail dress (knee length) to a black tie optional wedding.

Re: Black tie Optional

It depends on how much you want to spend. If you want to go easy on your pocketbook, you can go to Filene's basement. I have found 2 Ralph Lauren gowns there and was happy. You could also goto Lord and Taylor - they have awesome sales. If money is not an issue, try Nordstrom Couture department. Good Luck.

Re: Black tie Optional

This whole black tie optional thing drives me crazy...there have beena bunch off posts of people wanting to put that on their invitation...Personally I htink you either have a Black Tie wedding or not because for me if I saw the 'optional' I would feel bad not wearing black tie....JMO

Re: Black tie Optional

i think the reason people put black tie optional is b/c it's asking a lot to have a black tie wedding. I mean, black tie optional just means, if you have a tux, wear it. If you don't, then wear your best suit.

I think it's fine.

SHE isn't asking if she should put it on her invitation...

SHE IS ASKING WHAT TO WEAR TO ONE!

I say you can wear any color
