Anyone do/-ing cupcakes for your 'wedding cake?'

My dream cake would be Entemann's marshmallow devil's food cake, but I don't think they'll make me one. We like the idea of carrot cake, so that might be a possibility, but with all the kids and teens, we though we might do a cupcake tower. Maybe we can get the funfetti cupcakes

Re: Anyone do/-ing cupcakes for your 'wedding cake?'

I saw this along with other interesting towers in a Brides magazine. I thought they were great. One tower was of chocolate truffels, one towere was of little petit four cookies and chocolate and the cupcake towers. I thought about this too because we will have alot of kids and Im planning on setting up there own little space in the room, I thought the cupcakes would be a great touch.

Re: Anyone do/-ing cupcakes for your 'wedding cake?'

I actually work for Entenmanns. A few years back a girl wrote in saying that they would love to make a donut cake out of our rich frosted donuts and we did donate them to her. Write a letter it cant hurt to see what happens.

Years ago they used to make cakes for occassions but they stopped that and no one could ever figure out why.

Re: Anyone do/-ing cupcakes for your 'wedding cake?'

I'm not doing cupcakes, but am hoping to do little individual 'present cakes' FH isn't too keen on the idea because they are like $15-$18 each. He's not crazy about the little cans of soda the grocery store sells either! -- I am a sucker for those things though! They are just so cute!!

I've only seen a few pics of those types of cakes. They are soooo cute!!!! However, FGMIL is making our cake, so it won't be that!

Your pics look great! I wish I could see them larger though. I can't click on them... Any ideas how I can better see the pics?

Re: Anyone do/-ing cupcakes for your 'wedding cake?'

One of my only regrets about our wedding was that we did this. It's an idea that really sounds better than it winds up being.

We decided to give these out as favors for after the wedding, but it took so much time for the staff to box them up that they ended up serving dessert early. Also, in reality the cupcake cake does not look as good as in the pictures. Also, there is nothing to 'cut' really so you wind up just biting into a cupcake in front of everyone, which looks silly.

Overall, I wish we had stuck to the traditional wedding cake.
