Can anyone share how weight watchers works

Im about 50lbs heavier than I was four years ago. I have time before I need to go look for a dress since the date was moved. I'd like to lose atleast 30lbs of this before the hunt. I was thinking weight watchers but dieting really hasnt been my thing. I was thinking about giving weight watchers a chance though since it's right by my house and Im desperate. Could someone just tell me how it works though

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

Aw, you'll be fine. WW is not a diet, so I think you'll be surprised. You can do two different plans, the points plan or the no counting plan. I do the points system. Each type of food is assigned a certain amount of points for a certain portion. You are alotted a certain amount of points per day depending on your weight and you just eat that many points a day. It's really simple and after a while, you know exactly what you can eat for how many points and you don't even have to check it. I've lost about 40 pounds since September on it and I don't even go to the meetings. hope that helped!

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

That's great!! Good for you What kind of food do you have to eat though? It's not that soy crap is it(not to offend anyone who eats it )Also I remember when my friend was on it years ago she would buy the food at the supermarket and it was like teeny portions.

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

Um, I eat candy and ice cream and cake But as long as you only eat the amount of points you have in a day, then you're fine and still lose weight You can eat ANYTHING you want. It's more about portion control than anything. Here's a typical day for me:

Breakfast: two cups of puffed wheat cereal with half a cup of 2% milk (3 points)

Snack: low fat granola bar (2 points)

Lunch: turkey sandwich on light bread (2 points)
cup of mandarin oranges (1 point)
15 fat free pringles (1 point)

Snack: cup of applesauce (2 points)

Dinner: 4 ounces of chicken (4 points)
broccoli (0 points), salad with my own dressing (1 point), half a cup of brown rice (2 points)

Snack: small piece of fruit (2 points)
Weight Watchers ice cream (2 points)

Total points for the day : 22

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

BY POINTS
depending on what you weigh
they give you a chart of how many points you can have during the day by you're weight..

i gained weight from it lol BUT i know a lot of people who lost a lot of weight

i ate the smart ones for lunch and din
it was easier for me with the points
i was not going to sit there and go through that book to see how many points something was .

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

I am not trying to loose weight but use ww as a lifestyle. I have a journal of everything I like to eat and its point value so I know. I feel this is the most realistic approach if you are trying to loose weight. Good luck, you can do it! Don't forget to incorporate exercise as well

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

I am starting a weight training class two times a week, but I'll be honest, I don't really exercise at all other than that! I know, shame on me

I am thinking about weight watchers - this thread is inspiring. How much does it cost to go to meetings?

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

I go and lost 35 pounds, but gained a few back after the wedding! It is $10.95 a week for meetings, but you can do it online too, if the meetings aren't for you and I think it is slightly cheaper that way. I like it a lot, because you can eat whatever you want, as long as it's in moderation and you plan for it. If you follow it as you should, you also get a good balance of foods - fruits & veggies, dairy, etc.

I don't find it that big of a deal to figure out what the points are for foods, and 2 doctors I have gone to said it's the only program they would recommend.

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

In person the meetings are $12 a week. There are often coupons for free registraiton (which is normally $18 I think). I might even have a coupon if you're interested.
You can do points or the Core. I do points, and i love it. You have to do what works for you. I personally like knowing the number of points i can have. I still LOVE to eat, and just fit the things I really like into the points!!!

Thanks so much! I'm going to keep my eye out for promotions...I'll let you know if I need the coupon.

I think I'm going to do it. No one I have ever met can say anything bad about it.

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

I used to work out all the time. A gym junkie but ever since FH and I are together there has been a string of unforseen events and I stopped all together and just packed on the weight. I got a treadmill for christmas and an ab roller but havent really used them.

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

The fees vary slightly, depending on where you live, but here in Nassau, they just went up to $10.95 (the city is probably different). They do have this pre-pay coupon package that is for 10 weeks and works out to be $8.95 a week. I do that to save money, but also, it keeps me going if I know I already spent the $ on it.

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

Bunny monkey...I see that some girls are posting different prices for the meetings. I 'd check your area. I know by me it's 12$ But check it out. Online is also an option...it might work out to cheaper per week. For me, I need to actually go and get weighed to feel motivated!!!

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

Only going to the meetings work for me. I am not sure why, maybe because I know someone else sees my weight (although the ladies at my center are really nice and not judgemental at all....) I think paying the money, and having to show up for the meetings and weigh in just keeps me honest and makes me stick to it longer.

Re: Can anyone share how weight watchers works

I completely agree with you. The ladies by me are super nice, but having someone write down your weight and congratulate you for whatever your loss, however tiny, is a great feeling. They are also kind if it's been a 'bad' week, keeping me on track for the next week.

Thank You. I bet in Manhattan it's more

I am debating between online and meetings - but I think I need to be held accountable.

Can you pay as you go?
