Tipping the Priest/Church

Does anyone know how 2 handle the tipping of the priest? The last wedding I went 2 was last year & it was a Jewish Ceremony
so I din't even bother 2 ask that friend cause I'm sure it's a totally different ballgame.
I have know current form of reference.
Please Help?

Re: Tipping the Priest/Church

I didn't tip my priest but I did tip the altar servers $20 each. I had to pay $400 to have our ceremony in the church and an additional $150 for the organist- I'd be damned if I have to lay out more money and tip the priest too. Where's the donation for the church going????

Re: Tipping the Priest/Church

The church I'm using actually mailed a price list for every service I would be receiving (use of sanctuary, music, wedding coordinator, clean-up). So I won't tip the church.

The officiant said his going rate was $150.00. So I plan to put $50.00 in an envelope the day of and give it to the best man for him to give to the officiant after the ceremony. I think that's good enough.

Re: Tipping the Priest/Church

At precana, our pastor came and spoke and answered questions. When someone asked about this, he said it would be nice to tip the altar servers, but everything else was included in the donation to the church. We did not have any altar servers show up, so we didn't tip anyone.

Re: Tipping the Priest/Church

Our 'donation' was $500 plus $75 for the soloist. So as a gift to the priest, I sent him a gift basket as a thank you. I sent him this one.

Re: Tipping the Priest/Church

Actually, I DID give the priest a gift, but only because he is a close friend of mine and flew in to do the wedding. If it was the parish priest, I wouldn't have gotten him anything.

Me too. The Monsignor that married us left my parish about a year or so before we got married but he came back to marry us.
