GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

Please help. I want to give a really special and unique shower gift to someone who is getting married. Any ideas, personalized or otherwise would be great. Thanks for your help.

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

My favorite Shower gift was from my sister, she gave me my shower but she also gave me a blanket with Dh and my name with the wedding date on it. It was a great idea because I LOVE things personalized

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I've done that too (the holiday baskets) but it's something you have to start a year in advance. I've also done things like took all the baking things off the registry and made a huge basket but added baking mixes decorations, cook books, cookie cutters, all that good stuff!

Well we register for a martini set, and someone bought us that, a bottle of vodka and a martini recipe book. Not very special but it was a good idea. I'm going to keep thinking, I have 2 showers myself this year

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

my fave engagement gift came from my best friend - it was a set of the votive candles from yankee candle (the 18 set that you make) and a pair of candleholders - she got me two of each color (that correspond with the poem) and gave them to me with this poem.... which she printed on a beuatiful piece of stationary

here goes:

A Basket Full of Love and Candles

A basket full of candles that come in a pair,
of all different colors for the two of you to share.

The white ones burn first, they are wrapped in white lace,
To celebrate the first night as husband and wife, in your new place.

The mauve pair is next,
they're to burn for your first dinner guests.

There are candles to burn Christmas Eve before bed,
Your first Christmas married, that's why they are red.

The navy candles are for your very first married fight,
use them while you are making up that night.

Pink candles will set the mood and pave the way,
for you romantic evening on your first Valentine's Day.

Now your very first year of marriage is through,
the cream anniversary pair will be a light for you two.

By this time, we hope maybe, just maybe.
you can burn the yellow ones for the birth of your first baby.

And just when you thought you could put these away,
take out the light blue ones for your fifth anniversary day.

Now just one pair left for the bigh 25!
An anniversary pair that will keep your love alive!

So congratulations XXX and XXX on the start of your new life,
may the two of you always be happy together as husband and wife.

Burn these candles the way that i said,
but please don't forget to blow them out before bed!

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I actually got TWO picnic baskets. Cute gift. I am not sure how frequently I will use them. In fact, if anyone wants to buy one, I would be happy to sell it.

Make up a basket of wine bottles and put tags or labels on them with occasions (wedding night, first night in new home, first night in first house, etc)

I actually have a poem that goes with this. If anyone needs it, just FM me. I was a BM and the bridal party did this for the bride to be. It was very cute. We wrapped each bottle of wine with papers in colors for the occassion and put them in a basket. One of the girls read the poem while the other pulled the wine bottle and show it to everyone for each occassion.

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

A little bag of soaps, shower gels, bath salts, and a note that reads: From so-and-so's shower to yours.

You could go low-end or really expensive with it too, depending on what you use.

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I have been doing the holiday decorations. In May, I gave a friend 1 or 2 decorations for her house for each holiday. I also ordered them a snowman for their home with their last name on it since I know her husband was a Christmas Maniac...

In January I did a complete Christmas theme shower for my best friend. We had a 'Wishing Sleigh' and Christmas music and decorations at one of the girls in the bridal party's homes. As a gift, I bought a Red and Green storage bin and tons of Christmas stuff to go in it, including ribbon, bows, wrapping paper, stationary, holiday napkins, and more!

I like to give people things they will need and not something that will more than likely sit in a cabinet for most of their life.

I do love the candle idea. I may use it someday!

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I recently gave a friend a honeymoon themed shower gift. I ordered a bikini from ebay with her new last name on the butt, I got flip flops, sunblock, water bottle for the pool, pedicure kit, beach towel, etc... and put them all in a Just Married tote bag (also from ebay)

I thought you meant a favor!

I also did the honeymoon tote for my FSIL last month. I got a tote bag with a bride and groom on it, the flip flops for both that said 'just married' , all bride and groom hats, boxers, tank top, towels. Then I added toiletries like sunblock, chap stick, immodium (they are going to mexico!) aloe, tic tacs, candles and a guide to riviera maya, where they are going

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

how about glasses or an ice bucket with their monogram on it. Address labels with their new names or stationary with her new name on it.
