Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I am a big fan of giving something small from the registry, and then 'showering' the bride with something luxurious, like a silk bathrobe. This always goes over really well, especially if all she has opened is towels for an hour.

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I recieved 2 gifts that I truly loved. The first was my conair footspa. I am a bartender and am on my feet all the time. The second was a cookbook of old favorite family recipes. It is sorta a southern tradition that we create a cookbook for the new bride so that she can add to it and pass it on to her child when they get married.

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

My favorite my Mom's idea. She always finds a pretty hat box and fills it with all sorts of Christmas decorations. It nice having your own new 'together' ornaments your first married Christmas. We each had our own, but these were special. She has done it for every shower and everyone loves the idea.

To this day, every single one of my friends have received the same thing at their shower that every time they see my card, they say 'Oh-oh.' ANd out comes the most......revealing honeymoon outfit (for their own private after party). Now I'm just ooooohhhhhh a little concerned about my own shower......

my fave engagement gift came from my best friend - it was a set of the votive candles from yankee candle (the 18 set that you make) and a pair of candleholders - she got me two of each color (that correspond with the poem) and gave them to me with this poem.... which she printed on a beuatiful piece of stationary

here goes:

A Basket Full of Love and Candles

A basket full of candles that come in a pair,
of all different colors for the two of you to share.

The white ones burn first, they are wrapped in white lace,
To celebrate the first night as husband and wife, in your new place.

The mauve pair is next,
they're to burn for your first dinner guests.

There are candles to burn Christmas Eve before bed,
Your first Christmas married, that's why they are red.

The navy candles are for your very first married fight,
use them while you are making up that night.

Pink candles will set the mood and pave the way,
for you romantic evening on your first Valentine's Day.

Now your very first year of marriage is through,
the cream anniversary pair will be a light for you two.

By this time, we hope maybe, just maybe.
you can burn the yellow ones for the birth of your first baby.

And just when you thought you could put these away,
take out the light blue ones for your fifth anniversary day.

Now just one pair left for the bigh 25!
An anniversary pair that will keep your love alive!

So congratulations XXX and XXX on the start of your new life,
may the two of you always be happy together as husband and wife.

Burn these candles the way that i said,
but please don't forget to blow them out before bed!

What a great poem and gift! I love it!!!

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

HI, I did two cute things
For my friend who was going to Hawaii for her honeymoon--I ordered a LL Bean Boat and Tote w/ her new monogram--I filled the bag with all cute stuff--tanning lotion, beach towels, underwater camera, bride and groom flip flops etc... and a gift cert to the spa at her hotel in Hawaii--it comes out really cute!!!
Then for my sister I got her a private chef on the beach in Hawaii--so I made a picnic basket with two bottles of wine, cookbooks etc..--and then I printed the menu on pretty paper and a description of the whole meal.
Both of these gifts were great!
Hope I helped you!!

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I didn't do this myself - but I remember a few months ago someone on here was putting together a scrapbook of married 'firsts' - first vacation, first date as a Mr. & Mrs., first Valentine's day, Christmas, Halloween, etc.... I thought that was as cute idea if the recipient is crafty.

I love the holiday baskets - my brother's girlfriend did this for someone. What a wonderful, memorable gift.

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I always like giving a medicine cabinet basket I fill a basket with all the things you need in your medicine cabinet but don't realize it until you need it things like neosporin, advil, peroxide, band aids, etc. I have done this several times and everyone loves the idea. I also usually add some folic acid vitamins to remind the bride to start taking so she will be ready for when she wants to start her family.

Re: GREAT SHOWER GIFT IDEAS

I like to get a theme going with the registry gifts (like baking, bath, etc.) and then throw in some fun stuff off the registry - honeymoon items, day-off emergency kit, Don't sweat the small stuff for Newlyweds books, etc...
