Is anyone getting the 'bridezilla' routine from your family

It was funny the first few times, but it seems that when ever any one disagrees with me, or I say anything that rubs anyone wrong, they blame the wedding. Even when it has nothing to do with the wedding.

Then when they ask me questions about what they should do for the wedding and I tell them specifically, they tell me I'm being too demanding. BUT if I don't tell them what to do I get the 'we've never done this before and its your wedding so direct us on what to do.'

I think the most annoying part about my wedding so far is the hassel that everyone is giving me.

thanks for letting me vent - because we all know I can t tell anyone around here without being called a bridezilla

Well, look what I wrote under my name.....I am so sick of hearing this. I am the complete OPPOSITE of a bridezilla. In fact, except for coming on here, I hardly EVER talk about my wedding to other people!

Re: Is anyone getting the 'bridezilla' routine from your family

Yes!! I started hearing the bridezilla comment the moment my ering was on my finger, lol. Fortunately, it seems to be in a joking way from my family. I have been so lax I feel- I let my girls pick their dresses, I am not making them all have the exact same shoes (Just black strappy sandal heels) and yet I still have certain people who complain they want to do something different ('I'm wearing closed toe shoes cause I like them better') I sometimes just want to scream I AM THE BRIDE!! JUST LISTEN TO ME FOR ONE DAMN DAY! lol

Re: Is anyone getting the 'bridezilla' routine from your family

Well today two different people told me that I have a momzilla for a mom. so I guess that means I am not doing enough to be a bridezilla myself. ha. Sometimes people need an excuse to disagree w/ you. I think that people blame someone for being a bridezilla when their reaction to a problem is exactly like that of every other bride, and is just because the other person is not or has not been a bride him/herself.

Anytime I get the slightest bit upset or have my own opinion about our wedding (aren't I allowed to?) I get called that by my sister....luckily she also has been a huge support but yeah I hear you!

Re: Is anyone getting the 'bridezilla' routine from your family

I understand, it seems like whatever I decide, people have a comment. I learned that if I am undecided about something, my family says, 'you don't even know what you want' as if that is bad, but if I decide on something, I hear all about why it is a terrible idea. My FH and I are doing so much that we are not telling my family about, so that we do not have to hear the comments. That makes me sad, but it keeps me sane!!!!

Re: Is anyone getting the 'bridezilla' routine from your family

Everyone is going to have their comments about what you want. Unfortunately they voice them too often. I was lucky and only had this issue to deal with once. Let them make their comments and just come here to blow off the steam. They mean well, but they are trying to pass off their ideas for what they feel will give you the best wedding. Maybe their being 'guestzillas'?

Re: Is anyone getting the 'bridezilla' routine from your family

Yup I hear it from my mom and I'm soooooooo sick and tired of it. Like you've all said, everyone has an opinion, but no one has said their opinion to my or FH's face! So we hear it all second hand and that's VERY annoying. My mom is the only one who says anything to my face so she gets the brunt of my frustration... and I hear that I'm a bridezilla

It's MY day and I am not going to change my mind because someone said their idea was better! The last thing I am going to do is look back at my wedding and have any regrets about not doing something the way I wanted to do it.

Re: Is anyone getting the 'bridezilla' routine from your family

I have not really gotten that kind of treatment, but sometimes I feel like people are not suggesting, but are telling me what to do. Honestly, I have been a fairly easy going bride, and I am planning alot of things that others usually plan because of demographics, so I expect that when I want something done a certain way, people should back off. I am not doing this for other people, though half the time I feel like I am (ie favors, day before planning, and other things).

I think in general we all do alot of stuff for our guests and less for our selves. We should have a bridal revolt
