PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

I have some kind of pre employment test tomorrow at the bank and I don't own a suit or really much that would be suitable for work (I've been tutoring for years, so I wore jeans)... I have a really hard time finding stuff because I'm both plus size and SHORT 5'2. What stores (and locations) have a good selection? ALso, I'm only 22, so I need something age appropriate..a lot of times when i do find things they're just too old for me, especially because I look a lot younger than I am..I don't want to look like alittle girl trying on mommy's clothes.

Please help! I need to get something today!

Thanks ladies, you rock!

Re: PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

I'm sure that NY & CO carries up to size 16 or 18, and they have TONS of career clothes. If you go to their website, you'll get a 20% off your in-store purchase coupon emailed to you immediately. Very affordable!

Also, I was in Old Navy this weekend. They go up to size 20 and XXL, and had great suit separates that won't break the bank.

Re: PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

Sunrise Mall is NOT in E. Suffolk .. it is in W. Suffolk.

Sunrise Mall is on Sunrise Highway .. close to Massapequa and Farmingdale.

And Lane Bryant is not isolated to Sunrise Mall.

Here's the Lane Bryant store locator:

Re: PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

I have a few things in NY&Co, but their pants just do NOT look good on me...lol

Are the Old Navy clothes really professional?

Are any of the department stores good? I've never even been to Nordstrom..there's onw in RF, right?

Would Lord & Taylor or Macy's be good?

Which L&T is better, Garden City or Manhasset?

Re: PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

I'm in Queens. I will check it out.

I'm going to check out the Old Navy at Erskine Street in Brooklyn, and then work my way out to the island...

Is there anything in Green Acres or Roosevelt Field Mall?

I know there are Lane Bryant and NY&Co.

Re: PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

I wish I hadn't gained that last 10 lbs and I could still fit into Ann Taylor Size 16.

Yep. I have quite a few really nice Ann Taylor pieces that DON'T FIT.

Re: PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

I know this sounds crazy, but Target actually has a large plus-size section, and a maternity section. I don't know what your proportions are like, but if your legs are not that heavy a maternity suit might actually be more flattering (I have a friend that wears maternity suits). The maternity suits are also not as long.

Re: PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

Will Macy's 34th street have a better selection? Is ti worth the trip?

I'm about halfway between macy's 34th and RF, but i prefer RF, it's a less annoying trip

yes, the Old Navy suit separates were not typical, trendy, 'old navyish'. I own a set!

Re: PLus size ladies - Where do you buy suits/ work clothes

I'm not sure that macy's 34th street would be better than Rossevelt Field. I knwo Macys's have a 'woman's' dept, but a lot of that is older looking, not sure if they have more modern plus size.
In Rosseevelt Field, you;d then have th other department store options & Lane Bryant. Ther is also a 'The AVenue' on Old county across from RF.

If you did go to Herald square, you could try Old Navy on 33rd, OR L & T on 5th & 38th (I think ) or Lane Bryant on 34th & 5th.
