If someone asks what they should wear to a black tie wedding--

and a girl you don't like who was "best friends" with FH before you started dating- and then "wasn't" after you started dating- asks if she can wear a red dress to the wedding (and she IS slutty)-- do you tell her she shouldn't wear red?

If this was a demure girl I wouldn't care-- but, the girl gets under my skin.

I would tell her to wear whatever she wanted. I say that only b/c if you tell her no you are giving her a reason to go and talk about you being a bridezilla or whatever else for not letting her wear her red dress.
If you act like you care you are letting her "Win" in my opinion
( sorry if that sounds really grade school!!)

actually- she didn't ask me- she asked FH.. he said red was ok- as long as it wasn't like a f*ck me red.. I don't care if she wore red-- it's more that I don't trust her judgement.. the girl is just weird.

Why can't you wear red to a Black Tie wedding ?? - Or is it not the color.....but more the 'style' of the dress you're worried about ??
I'd tell her to 'wear whatever she is comfortable in" - And then get a good laugh when she shows up looking cheap ......

I'd tell her to wear whatever she wants. She will look ridiculous showing up to a wedding in a bright red dress and everyone there will know that she only did it to get attention.

tell her black tie means an evening gown and not a harlet red hooker dress (assuming she was wearing that type of red dress).

i didn't know you shouldn't wear red to a black tie wedding. of course not something u would wear to a bar but no red a all?

I think you can wear red to a wedding-- as long as it is an elegant dress- and not as someone stated above- an "attention getting dress"..

I think really this girl didn't know what black tie meant.. like, she asked if he boyfriend can wear a black suit.. and if it meant that she needed to wear black.. like if she could wear a red dress..

Anyway- she is annoying... i was just wondering what people thought about the red dress issue.. I know I have seen some posts on here where people have commented about people showing up in that- or a white dress of course.

Oh, and FH and her never dated.. or hooked up. Although, I do have my suspicions that she harbored some feelings for him..

I wore a long red dress to a black tie function and would have no problem wearing that same red dress to a wedding. It was not a fire engine red, more of a subdued red. It was also a long elegant cut - a high back and front with no plunging neckline (Ralph Lauren). It was a kind of like a tank top look put more pinched at the top than straps. I think it is how you present yourself in red. If you go for a red cocktail dress then I'd say no. But if you go for elegance then I think it is fine. I did not wear red lipstick or nail polish.
