Any reception recommendations in the port jefferson area?
My FH and I are going out east soon and we are interested in looking at reception sites in the Port Jefferson area. We are having a small wedding 90-100 guests so a big reception hall will not do for us. We would like something on the water or a place with lots of land with pretty gardens and a nice interior. Any nice restaurants might work for us as well. Off the beaten path sugestions are welcomed as well.
Thanks!

Meadow Club has smaller rooms that would accomodate 100 people

Did you check the Port Jeff Country Club? It was just renovated, and I think the food is catered by Villa Lombardi's.

Re: Any reception recommendations in the port jefferson area?
Thanks this is helpful. At this point I have a list of 30 places and I am trying to narrow down the search so that I don't go crazy!!!!!!!!
So it sounds like: lombardi's on the sound (5) Meadow club (2) Hamlet Willow Creek (1) Three Village Inn (1) Miller Place Inn (1) Danfords (1)

Re: Any reception recommendations in the port jefferson area?
My only requirement is that the place will have to accommodate approx 90 guests and preferably I would like to be the only wedding, but if there is enough privacy I guess it would ok to be at a place that has more than 1 reception.
Will that info change any recommendations?

Not sure how close it is but the Vanderbilt mansion is Perfect for smaller weddings and it has water. it is on a river. very yummy food too!
Also only one wedding. It is sooo pretty for a small wedding. I think the max is like 130.. I am having 110 there.
vanderbilt mansion
P.s. the new website ***** and the picture don't even begin to do it justice! They have very little pics of the couryard or grounds and only have the reception room.

Re: Any reception recommendations in the port jefferson area?
You know, when you think you have heard all the sites a new one comes up - the old field club :). I visited the website - it is very pretty on the water!!! Anyone been here before?
I absolutely love the Vanderbilt - but I think the min is 125 for a Sat night and 110 for a sat afternoon so I am not sure if I am willing to pay more - I am still debating with myself. On the one hand the price is cheaper than some of the other places I am looking at but it would not be much different once I add the 20 to 35 heads. Out of principle I feel weddings cost so much as it is why pay more. I don't know, but on the other other hand I think it is really beautiful and maybe I could rationalize it as a site fee. I have not visited this site yet due to my conflictual feelings and do not want to fall in love with the site but be plagued with the guilt of spending extra $$$ when other there are so many other sites. Anyone else felt this way?

Port Jeff CC - now called Lombardi's on the Sound....we had our reception there and I cant recommend them highly enough. They were great. We had 110 people at our wedding and the room was PERFECT! I have a review on the brides review board or FM if you have any questions.
Here is the link for their website (my review is on the bride's review board) www.lombardisonthesound.com

just an idea- there are two ways to avoid just adding guests for minimum- 1 -pay a slightly higher amount to gurantee less 2- most halls allow you to include vendors in the minimum number - so if you have a band- there 8 or 9- photgrpaher and videographer- 3-5, Dj - 2, Day of coordinator - 1

Re: Any reception recommendations in the port jefferson area?
I got married at Meadow club. They do host more than one event at a time! But honestly I never felt neglected nor did any of my guests! I am still getting TONS of compliements that it was the best wedding people had ever been too. All night people kept asking me how we found this hall because it was just amazing! The food was delicious and plentiful and the price was great! Better than any where else we went!
If I had it to do all over again, there are some vendors I would change but I would go with the Meadow club again in a heartbeat! They are SOOO worth a visit!

The Old Field Club is pretty pricey...I talked to them about booking my Feb 04 wedding and they wanted $125pp and WOULDN'T BUDGE on the price Plus, their parking lot floods a lot.
The Miller Place Inn is nice and very reasonable, but not on the water. There is a cute pond across the street though.
Danford's is on the water, one wedding at a time.
Giorgio's isn't too far away in Wading River and it's on the water
There's also the new place in Mt Sinai...is it Tall Grass CC?
Blackwells is a restaurant in Wading River (www.blackwellsrestaurant.com)
