NWR: Does deodorant just stop working if you use the same brand for too long?
I never knew this!!!!!!!!I've used Secret since I was like 12 and then for my sister's wedding I stunk like a pig! I used Certain Dri a few days before and then Secret - and bam - it didn't work on the big day!
Then I heard on the radio that deodorant can just stop working if you use the same brand for too long. I never knew this!
So, I have been switching deodorants every month so I don't stink on my big day!
Did anyone else know this or am I the only clueless one?

That is strange. I have been using Degree for a long time and it still works well.

I had never heard anyone say it, but have always sworn that what you're saying is true, i.e. that anti-perspirant stops working after a certain period of time. For a while, I was switching every time I found that it had stopped working, but I've now been using Degree with no trouble for years.

I didn't know that it was a proven fact but I always thought it. I go through deodorant like it's going out of style. I have been using Certain Dry which seems to be great, but I think I'm going to stop and save it for the big day- I don't want it to stop working for me and then be stuck.

Yes Yes YesIt happens to me every once in a while.
Usually around every two years.
Secret just stops working for me.
I switch to something else for a month or so and then I can go back to the secret.
I thought it was just me.

FH and I were just talking about this today. I guess it makes sense. Your body chemistry can change so I guess that can effect it. He always used SURE now he doesn't know what to use?

I have never run into that issue before. Hmm..maybe I should switch now so that I can go back to my secret for the wedding.

I really don't understand how that could happen unless they change the ingredients of the deodorant.

Yes, and the same thing is true with shampoo and conditoner as well. I switch all of them like once a month.
