Whoever suggested buying the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".....

THANK YOU!!!!!
I bought it last week, and it is AMAZING! I have learned so much about my cycle and body by reading this book. There are SO many things that I've NEVER known about my body that I would have NEVER learned. It has helped me understand so much now that I'm ready to start.
I H-I-G-H-L-Y reccomend this book to everyone TTC!

NP!

Felicia You are too sweet!

I am glad you loved it! Seriously, I felt like such a MORON when I read this book! I remember thinking to myself, how can I be in my mid/late twenties (this was two years ago)
and never know these things that happen in my own body??!!
Every woman should read this book!

If anyone lives in MA, the author has a lecture coming up soon.

Thanks so much Deb!!! I also feel like a moron reading this. Honestly I learned stuff in like 6th grade about pads and tampons and cramps and the oh so popular- don't have sex because you'll get preggo right away.
What a crock!

Re: Whoever suggested buying the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".....

I heard a bit about this book. About how even if your cycle is fairly regular, you don't necessarily ovulate on the "middle" day, right? I find this astonishing, given all the information we are dealt during our lives as women!

Wendy, go to amazon.com and by a used one from someone.
I got mine much cheaper because a woman purchased it to help her get preggo...she read about a chapter and got preggo so she sold it, much cheaper than a book store! Plus it gets delivered to your door so you dont need to worry about those pesky shelves.

GREAT idea...I went into B&N and paid just about full price (I got the member 5% "big whoop" discount) but still it was a pricy book.. and not even hard cover!

Re: Whoever suggested buying the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".....

the single most helpful thing i learned from that book is that your luteal phase is constant every month.

knowing that my luteal phase is 12 days long every month, i can count back and be positive as to when i ovulate. if it was not for this bit of info., i would never have realized that i was o'ing on day 17 and 18 when i thought i was o'ing on day 14.

and what the book says is true - even my doctor did not know that it is the follicular phase that varies and not the luteal phase.

every doc should have to read this book!!!

No ma'am! Your LP is the amount of days between when you ovulate and when AF starts.

I feel a little creeped about checking my CP too! Perhaps I will grow out of it if what I have been doing doesn't work.

I love this book to! We can start our own book club now LOL

Re: Whoever suggested buying the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".....

I think that this book should be required reading for every woman. I read through it so that I could stop taking BCP and not get pregnant and learned more than I ever imagined!!

Now when we are ready to TTC, I'll be so ready.

I am dying to get off the pill but we are not ready to TTC. I am going to get this book if it helps with this. Then when we are ready to TTC, I will be prepared.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I got this but haven't started reading it yet- I bought it based on reviews on Amazon. Glad to hear it is good.

Maybe it is just me, but this is one book I don't think I would want to buy used. JMO.

You should take your basal temps then. If I never took my temps I'd never get pg. Found out I ovulate later than day 14 like our wonderful sex ed classes had taught us.
