Major Vent (and a little TMI)
I went to my MILs house yesterday to celebrate DH grandmother's 92nd (yes 92nd) birthday. He has these ridiculously obnoxious cousins & uncle, who feed their dog everything under the sun - cheese doodles, chocolate, you name it they give it to them.
Needless to say, I am not thrilled with this practice & have told them before not to give my dogs table food. If we choose to give our pups a treat, it will be in their dish & something that will not hurt them. Well, about 1 hour into the party, I see DHs idiot uncle give my 5 month old Shiba Inu puppy buttercream frosting & then find out he already gave him peanuts and strawberries!!!!
I was so pissed & made a huge deal of it. Everyone at the party got mad, but an hour later my poor little puppy got the runs & bad...uncontrollable bad. The jerk has the nerve to complain that the smell is ruining his appetite
the poor pup has been in agony now for about 10 hours & goes every 15 minutes or so. He is even bleeding a little now from all the 'friction'(sorry for TMI). My vet flipped out & yelled because she saw the strawberries in his stool. (My MIL had to take him to the vet). So my Vet allegedly (I don't know exactly what was said, because I was not there) threatens to call animal protective services, because he thinks we are mistreating our dog!

Oh no! I hope your Shiba puppy feels better soon. Sandys tummy cant handle people food either. We have to be careful with her dog food to.

I completely agree with you! Some of that stuff could kill your dog! How dare people think that it is okay to just give your dog anything they want!

Re: Major Vent (and a little TMI)
Oh My Gosh....thank you everyone for your responses! I am glad to know that I was not overreacting...The puppy is OK today....the vet did not give him anything for fear that it may further aggravate his system, and just told us to keep giving him the boiled chicken and rice. His stool is still loose, but it is normal color & there is no blood as of last night. The Vet gave him a little salve for his puppy bottom, and he is not crying anymore when he 'goes.'
I am still really upset with what went on...not only was it incredibly disrespectful on soooo many levels, but totally dangerous to my dog.

DH is still really aggravated, and he took a messed peepee pad & put it in their mailbox with the vet bill.
I thought the vet bill on it's own would have gotten the point across, but DH is a little vengeful at times...Thank you everyone for your
& your support for Loki.

I used explicit lanuage towards your relatives and hoped that they get fed something that gives them the same symptoms but the way I worded it was a little vulgar. I was so upset for your puppy. I am so happy he is doing well.
